Aledo is the current "ELITE" program in all of Texas for all classifications. 7 titles and 8 Finals appearances in the last 10 years. No other program in the discussion.

If I heard right they’ve lost 10 games in past 11 years. I’m having a hard time coming to grips with that one...having lost 10 games in past 11 years is freakin insane fellas!

The current head coach has a total of 4 or 5 losses. With one being a one point loss to college station last year in the state championship

If your superstar can’t crack the lineup at super power 6A Allen, you move to a P.O. Box in Southlake. If he can’t get on the field for 6A Carroll High, you move west to 5A D2 Aledo. And if your superstar is filthy rich you buy a million dollar mailbox in 5A D1 Highland Park (always the largest school in 5A, but ironically never over the 6A line...hmmmm).

Well the UIL has to find a cut-off point somewhere lol

Since 1998, Aledo has won 8 State Championships!

Talent coaching and overall program will have them continuing to rack up State Championships. After watching the PNG Marshall game everybody was saying how Marshall was this powerhouse with to much speed for anyone to handle. Then Marshall goes on to get a very fortunate win against Huntsville and a nail biter against CC. Move forward to Aledo who just man handles them. Our area has a long way to go on the 5a level to even think about winning a State Championship.

I agree. Dallas area 5A is head and shoulders above Houston Area right now.

Aledo, Frisco Reedy, Highland Park, Frisco Lone Star just to name a few.

But...Houston area 6A is right there with DFW. NS, Katy, CyFair, Cy Falls, Woodlands, Pearland, West Brook, Westfield, Atascosita...

Aledo's H/C moving to A/D.  Aledo's A/D is moving back to his old H/C job at Aledo.  The new/old H/C is Tim Buchanan.  There's much talk about Aledo keeps getting "move-ins" is the reason they win.  Well -- check out this from the article:  " Buchanan took his first head coaching job in Aledo in 1993 and has served in the district 25 years. He took the Bearcats from a struggling program to a regular championship contender. He led Aledo to its first title in 1998 and followed with titles in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013."  What -- Aledo never got good transfers before he showed up??  Again -- its all about the coach!

    • Yeah I remember the pictures of the water piled up on the north side of the highway, it was bad.
    • That’s a president? How embarrassing.
    • Really good hire! As I stated previously on this thread, Mike T has been an essential part of WB’s success the last few years & is a student of the game & I have a ton of respect for how he goes about things as a coach. Big on teaching kids how to do things the right way to prepare them for not only basketball but the game of life. He’ll be fine there, my only question is what kind of talent does WB have returning?  Best thing about this situation for Mike T is WB will be 5A for at least the next 2 years, so he should win a lot of games & have some deep playoff runs.
    • So which coaches kid gets the QB job? Trotter or Barrier
    • A Winnie land owner (and others) sued the State of Texas after they built IH-10 a few feet higher in order to help contain storm flooding. Sure enough a hurricane hit and flooded the land. The storm improvements worked!! Unfortunately the state sacrificed several people’s properties in using the interstate highway as a dam.  Richard DeVillier tried to sue Texas under our laws and Constitution and the US Constitution under the Fifth Amendment “taking clause” (eminent domain). After a favorable ruling in the federal district court on the right to sue Texas directly, the Fifth Circuit Court in New Orleans overturned that ruling and said that the DeVlier had no authority to sue Texas directly.  On Tuesday a unanimous US Supreme Court ruled that DeVillier and others had the right to sue Texas directly under Texas law and under the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution. The case is now sent back down to the lower court. DeVillier and others have not won their lawsuits as the case has not been decided on its merits at a trial. He still has to go to prove his case. What they did win was a unanimous Supreme Court agreeing that he has the right to bring Texas to trial for taking his property with just compensation.
