Cuero must have had a better FG kicker.

Maybe so, our first one may have been partially blocked, either way it was a miss.  Then we went for 2 which they got.  Never got to try to kick another. 0-3 on 2 pt conversions.   And that was the difference.  They got 2 and we missed out on the other 5 pts from the tries(1 kick and the other 2 pt tries).

Maybe coaching?

Hmm tough one there.  I didnt like the going for it on 4th down at midfield in the first half or the fake punt from our own 20 with about 4 mins left.  Other than that  i liked or was ok with most of the rest.  Didnt like so many plays up the middle at times.  Bunched a bunch of those together.

That guy talks as if Cuero beat Silsbee down or something Silsbee self inflicted late and lost the outside run was there all night but Silsbee Coach continued to run up the middle so yeah Cuero was sweating bullets until that fumble so take the victory and be happy and go beat pleasant grove Silsbee is very young and will learn from this great experience they have all their running backs coming back next year.

Agreed. I don't understand why it wasn't called more times.

I hate post game forum talk.

Almost all of it is wrong when it comes to the details...

Whittington:

Blocked Extra Point

70 yd Wildcat TD Pass

2 PT Int Return for Safety

Stuffed Taylor on the 1/2 yard line 2 PT Try

And many more....

Big plays happened all night by him.

The fake punt wasn't a fake punt.  You should have heard the convo on the sideline afterwards.

Tigers lost a close game. Played their asses of and deserved a win but it didn't happen.  It hurts but it's facts.

Congratulate the players & coaches who were playing in the Semi's instead of down playing their efforts.

Can't win a championship just running the ball. That gets shut down quick. Hopefully next year their passing game will be better.

Great game. Both teams left it on Theo field.  this game had it all, turnovers, interceptions, fumbles, blocked FG,  locked FG for a TD,  Fake punts, trash talk, ect.

Its simple as this.  Silsbee didn't convert Amy of their extra point attempts.  It all started on the blocked fg and coach felt he needed to get those points back,  it it didn't happen.

That last fumble hurt and will be hurting for a long time.  Martin's reaction on the sidelines told the story.

These seniors will be missed, but these youngsters will make or back to this point next year, I'm sure of it.

Here's for a hell of a season and I wish the best of luck to Cuero!

Notice a pattern...all those big plays except for the throwing of a pass came on the defensive side.  Not much you can do to limit that.  As far as where we could limit him, our defense did a pretty good job most of the night.  He made his catches but rarely made many yards afterwards.  The one big exception on that side of the ball was that last drive when he took it on himself and ran the ball at will. Sure That big pass play may have been a direct result of us seeing him with the ball and leaving those receivers open, i understand that. That is good coaches making a good play call.

As far as the fake punt, i was sitting on the very first row, heard nothing, heck couldnt have heard anything.  The option to run never should have been there and if he had no option than i hope his teammates forgive him.  After that missed field goal it really made little difference except possibly field position.   They got no points and we got the ball back with time to score...which had to be our goal after giving them the ball back either way.

Bottom line we lost a game that we had multiple opportunities to win.  That hurts but i couldnt be more proud of this team.  Not only for their play this season but how they handled themselves from early on when things werent going well all the way until the end when they were.

Silsbee QB out preformed Cuero QB. Matter of face he almost out preformed the QB and the WR that threw the ball.

Tigers kicker was hurt, from WOS game, It was taking him over 1.6 sec to kick extra point, thats why first one was blocked. I was told JV kicker moved, they tried other kids, but when pressed to kick under 1.5 sec, they were only 50/50 making it. Then you throw in the fact #3 is very good at blocking kicks for Cuero.  Only option go for two, Running back made one , Refs didnt give it to us. Threw interception on another, Running back hit wrong hole on another.

Fake punt on the 20, at end of the game, kid did on his own, sad part is , other players didnt know he was going to run or they might have been able to block enough for him to make it. Surprised he tried that with his back hurting like it was ? He told coach after game , he was just trying to help out his team. I guess he got caught up in the moment? FYI, He did the exact same thing in the district game with WOS, on his own ,but was successfull, i guess he thought he could do it again?

Couple of things Cuero got by with all night, which IMO, made the difference in the game. There Defense simulating the snap count, they only got called once, but did it all night. It caused Tigers to have sev Procedure pen. Second thing, when Cuero ran the P.R.O. plays, there lineman were 8 to 10 yards down the field, Refs never called it. Safeties will move up to stop the run when this happens and Cuero throws completions. Lineman are suppose to stay within three yards of line of scrimmage on pass plays.

Be interesting to see if Refs allow them to do this next week at AT&T

Good game Tigers both teams played their hearts out and Cuero pulling it out at the end. A couple things I question though. 1. Why did your team captains all walk away without shaking hands when Cuero tried too? Is that normal for you guys? 2. If you notice when one of your guys got hurt Cuero went straight to a knee. I know this is not a rule or anything but a show of sportsmanship. When our guys went down your players went straight over to the sideline like it was a timeout. Like I said I know this isn’t a rule but a show of class/sportsmanship. Good luck to you guys next year you have one hell of a team

Didnt make it for the coin toss, so cant answer that. As far as that second question, i did notice that and it is not something i am fond of and know in a previous game it was an issue with many in the stands on a lot more serious looking injury(player was down not moving and emts were called out very quickly). That needs to be changed.  As far as shaking hands at the toss i am not sure if we normally shake or just go back and get ready.

I’m good with going to the sidelines, but once you get there you’ve gotta take a knee.

Yes and that was the issue in the prior game.

You don't have to do anything.

Wanna have good sportsmanship it should have started with the trash talk at coin flip. If Coach Smith, School admins didn't have a problem with it then let it drop.

I don't think it's disrespectful if you don't take a knee. I know it's a tradition and a common theme of respect but there was no intent at disrespect... Hell almost the whole team was kneeling.

You don't see basketball players, baseball players, soccer players.... Lots of examples.

Silsbee had 3 team captains at coin flip.  Maybe 4.  3 shook hands, one didn't and u told some neighboring fans that.  But it looks like he tried to and the Cuero captain didn't see him, so he just walked away without looking back.  I don't think it was a malicious act, just like one of those boom boom things...

Now the taking a knee was a problem.  I know you just made a huge play, but you gotta take that knee, wherever you are.

There is a lot of things you dont have to do on the field or in life, but it doesnt make them right or respectful.  Yes it is a tradition on the field and rightfully so.

Actually at least after the toss there was no hand shaking at all, just watched it on texan live.

The handshake is one thing. Yeah it’s good sportsmanship but it’s a lot different than when somebody is hurt. Worst part is parents and fans in the stands were cheering the first time #6 went down. Like they were happy about it.

My point is, we can point our fingers at the players all day, but it starts at home in our own household. After that, the coaching staff needs to step up and do their part as well.
