I heard he was having surgery and would be out for the season. He may have more speed than McMillian, but they are both next to impossible to tackle with one man. This will be a physical match up and the difference in the game will be in the ability of the QB's to hit open receivers. Diboll should win this one because of their ability and willingness to throw the ball.

I sure hate to hear that, so pretty reliable source you heard from?

I tend to agree with you. looking at Diboll's schedule though, they have not played anybody that is really smash mouth like Liberty. It may take them a quarter or so to adjust to the physical nature of the Liberty offense.

I haven't seen either one of them play just a gut feeling, but as you can tell from my pick'ems  my gut sucks. LOL

I agree about the schedule so far, not the strongest pre district. But I still wouldn’t be surprised to see Diboll undefeated going into the game vs Franklin week 9

Neither team has really been tested, Huffman is the best team on either schedule so far. But, both teams are physical so it should be close early on. I just think Diboll is too talented. Diboll and Franklin will be one heck of a game. Looking forward to that one.

Liberty won’t throw the ball. They won’t even line up with receivers more than half of the snaps. So the outcome for Diboll may hinge on the QB’s ability to hit open receivers but that will not be what wins the game for the Panthers it won’t even be a factor. You’ll see what I mean when you see our offense , which I love by the way , and I love coming on SETX and seeing people complain about it after they play us. It’s straight out of the 1950’s and it’s great. The game for Liberty will be decided on the defensive side of the football , can they restrict Diboll’s run game enough to cause them to start throwing , if so that opens up the door for one of our talented 3 year starter safeties to make some big plays. The main thing will be staying fresh , our main defenders play both ways , fatigue was huge against Huffman.

Liberty’s easy pre-district schedule may come back to haunt them vs Diboll. Liberty does play hard for their Coach, i just see Diboll winning 28-14.

We finally have a coach who can coach, or put the right people in position to coach , the defense. That’s huge that’s why we are a playoff team that’s why we go over 500 consistently, Liberty went like 8 years before Taylor without a defense , and without a weight lifting program , we were small. Now they’re big and they tackle, and that has been the case ever since Taylor took over.

Liberty has always been a run fist offense, even when we had the weapons on the outside. Defense was always physical in the past and there getting back to it.

I haven't gotten to see them play yet this year, just high light videos. The offense looks to be the same as last year and it works ok, just wish they would spread it out a little bit and give the backs more room to move.

He's using basically the same play book that the coach from liberty ten + years ago used just altered it a bit

Riverside Seafood has folks from Houston and Beaumont coming over all the time to eat! Probably one of the best places to eat fried shrimp and catfish in SETX. I told the guys at the refinery a few years ago, they are always tearing it up now, driving an hour, don’t let the outside of the building fool you.

RIVERSIDE is by far the best place to eat in Liberty county. Second is Simply Country and Jax is right behind them.

Outside of those 3 places, LOS in Hardin or 10 de Mayo in Liberty for Tex/Mex

But yes, Riverside and there's no competition. And I am originally from Louisiana before moving to Evadale, so I know my seafood :)

Now, I reside in good ole' Liberty Texas - 4 miles from Riverside Seafood.

Stewart? Yeah he ran a similar offense and then Deel brought in the spread and then after him Taylor brought back the old school , I was speaking on the defense , not the offense, Taylor’s staff has libertys defense at a level that it hasn’t been at in years.

    • That there’s not a single thread on the fact that the Republican nominee is on trial for paying off a porn star with whom he had an affair while the future First Lady was carrying said nominee’s child.    I remember back when the dirty, no-good Dems sacked Gary Hart over something similar. Same thing with John Edwards and later Anthony Weiner.    But y’all keep pretending God is on your side, lol.
    • I hear what you’re saying, BUT… that hammers the hell out of poor people and the ones with multiple properties don’t eat any more than the poor ones. In fact, you’d basically just be taxing a lot of peoples’ EBT payments. The government  can’t get ahead by taxing what they’re already borrowing to give to people.    I think well off people should pay more… but the scale as it exists is broken.    For the sake of argument, my mom’s house in Groves is valued at $125k. 2/1/1 on a slab.  Her tax bill is $850/year. Without exemptions, her bill would be 3200. It’s right on JCAD’s website. The problem is this…. If someone tries to rent out an identical house, they’d expect to get, what… $1200/month? If you take into account that homeowners/windstorm/flood is a minimum of another $2k per year, you’d need $5k a year just to cover the taxes and insurance. That’s four months (1/3 of the year) just to cover those costs, not counting a potential mortgage payment. But then everybody cries about how expensive rents are… you can’t tax the hell out of non-homestead property to make up for gifts given to homeowners in the form of big tax cuts. It just doesn’t work.    Ten acres in Lumberton? I’ve got a buddy with 10 acres in Lumberton on HWY 69. Prime property… it’s his retirement plan. Sale it one day and cash in. The CAD decided that it no longer qualifies for a special use valuation (timber) and stripped his “exemption.” His 2023 tax bill jumped from $25 to $22,000…. It’s insane.
    • I’m curious what happened… they aren’t even in full pads yet.
    • They’re going to have win almost all remaining games and get finals of tournament to think about an at-large. When LU was in the WAC, Grand Canyon got an at-large after New Mexico St came out of nowhere to win conference tournament. Grand Canyon had a dang good resume that year. It can happen, but resume wise isn’t in their favor.
