I might as well get my frustration out right and what I saw last nite was a 'Hot Mess' I don't care if it's a new school thing and and they will learn thru the season it's still football and you played the game since pee wee ball. I saw no leadership from know one, they didn't know play count, they looked lost, nobody knew how to tackle and I can go on, I won't even get to what was being said in the crowd which showed lots finger pointing. I'll stop here and just it will be a very rough year ,  Big Ned by 2• tds

hmmm....i said this prior to the season starting...i just thought it would happen when they play memorial. most of the BUT fan base need to take off those rose colored glasses. when PAM came around, you had three schools coming off from the playoffs with super talented kids with a good bit of them making it to the nfl and they had their problems. don't mean to sound negative about the kids at united, but it is what it is. 2-3 kids that's really good not gonna make you a power house. ozen and central was not dominating ANYTHING in football with one school playing 4a numbers and they would have been molly whopped by a 4a team. now you put two teams together that didn't like each other and expecting a playoff run?? go sit down somewhere. Like what has happened to PAM, you have to purge all of that panther/jag stuff OUT!! from coaching and players. the 9th graders now is Uniteds future. they are not former jags or panthers..they are wolves. once that class sets up, they will have their own tradition and identity. United isn't WB!! that was a magical and to be honest more difficult run for them cause it was only one team that could go not 4 in year one. so, instead of making bold predictions on this team winning games, predict on improvement from week to week. a united win would be they were able to move the ball, no turnovers, we made tackles etc...cause that scoreboard will be a disappointment for them all year. PAM just beat down DP in a sloppy penalty filled game. that's the 4th place team right now in United's district and they will beat BUT's by atleast 3 td's if they played this week....

Actually, West Brook's first year was the first year UIL had two teams going to playoffs. West Brook was the runner up in their district that year and went on to win state championship.

In 1982, TJ beat WB 28-14 at Memorial Stadium in PA.  Craig Stump, Jerry Chaney, Paddy Doyle vs. Gerald Landry and Jerry Ball.  That game flipped the switch for WB.  Alex Durley's WB Bruins did not lose again and rolled to the 5A State Championship beating Hurst L.D. Bell 21-10 at the Astrodome.  Two years later, Beaumont French took their turn at the state championship podium with a 21-21 tie vs. Odessa Permian at Cowboys stadium in Irving.  Two years later, WO-S started its dynasty collecting state championship trophies.  Great times back then.  From 1975-1989, the Golden Triangle had some good times in football.  PN-G, Hebert, TJ, WB, French, and WO-S...all playing in or winning the state championship.

Back on topic...Nederland gets the W.

Go Indians.  Peace.

I do feel a little better that some of the other teams that will be vying for a playoff spot seems subpar as of now, namely Deer Park and LaPorte.  That makes me feel a little better.  North Shore and West Brook, then a crapshoot for 3rd and 4th.  Right now, I like The U's chances.

And Nederland.  How was spring football?

Advantage has to go to Nederland, after the spring football game it was clear to see the refs were on our side, the news coverage was on our side, and all UIL officials there in the stands blessed the game and its outcome! Nederland by 13 or more!!

Plus, the sprinkler system is running all week in preparation for incoming Tropical Storm Gordon

I'll wait and see the outcome if United loses this will be a long season. That being said I got United 28-24 over Nederland

I agree, if The U loses this one, it will be a long season.  Central coaches and players beat Nederland last year by themselves and had many close games prior to that.  So with the combining of the two schools, athletes and coaches, anything less than a victory Friday will be real disappointing...

I think Nederland wins in this one. I hope they get the passing game going with whichever QB is in there. Ozen and Central were always undisciplined football teams, I say it's a close game but United isn't going to have the discipline or leadership to go back to BMT with a W.
