If Memorial would have dominated their district, say, like WOS does, and constantly challenging for the State Title no one would be calling him anything other than a great coach.  He's had the opportunity and talent to easily win district titles and, again, challenge for State Titles.  But...

Could it be that some of the kids didn’t buy into his system? And that’s why they weren’t as successful as they could be? That can hurt a good coach no matter how hard they try... I don’t know if that was an issue, just something i would like to hear from somebody who knows PAM football.

Perhaps.....but if you look at Memorial's history, the following fact is undeniable.  No coach, even the hallowed Ronnie Thompson, ever took the Titans as far as Kenny Harrison did, despite these coaches having the same level of talent that Harrison had.

That the next head coach may take Memorial "to the next level" is a reasonable hope, but perhaps an unreasonable expectation.

It was my opinion that Kenny would have probably left PAM earlier if not for his son being in high school when he was. I will say, I give the school board and school district credit for sticking with him through that rough two-season stretch right at the end of them being in 6A.

Whoever gets the job next will have a ton of talent and a heck of a fan base lol

First post here so go easy on me. Didn't Ronnie Thompson lose the State title game to Odessa Permian with the double D's?

That was with Port Arthur Jefferson.  As 1985 stated, Thompson's stint at Memorial was less memorable.

Believe me, I am looking forward to a new Memorial coach as much as anyone for I might have a coach there who doesn't feel he is above answering my emails and I won't have a coach's wife who snipes at me by pm when folks on the board pick on her little boy.

However, I think a lot of folks are discounting the results that he had while at Memorial.

RT was a shell of the man. with a shell of the staff or support the 2nd stint. RT was way ahead of the curve in 78 when he roared into PA. His offense was way ahead of the defenses at that time, and the cupboard was FULL. He had a staff, administrative support, athletes, and as a hometown boy the community too. Throw in lots of 2 and 3 yr starters and a system no one had seen. Mix in a load of  Div 1 talent and you know the rest. Folks, timing is everything....

The major plus of having KRH as head coach, he hustle scholarships for his players.  Nuemann was the polar opposite.  So let him stay in retirement, please and thank you

Man thats an apples to oranges comparison....

Talent wise.  Nederland has some kids every few years or so that are good enough to play in college.  And by and large,  most of them did.  PA sends people every year. So blaming or praising a coach for “getting scholarships “ is kind of silly.  Those kids and their families are doing more of the work on getting the scholarships by uploading videos and social media. But you can only do what you can with what you have.

I agree, its not the coaches job to find the kid a College to play at. If the kid plays good enough the scout will find them.

I disagree... a coach with good connections to the college level can get a lot of kids looks who wouldn’t normally get a look....

Coaches who don’t focus on the recruitment process tend to end up with fewer recruits.

If the talent isn’t there they won’t.  That was my point.

I see your point but your big D1 players imo get recruited by bigger colleges and are scouted like Kyler Murry the kid never lost a varsity game and put up big numbers kind of hard not find him at Allen. I just don't see all the big colleges knowing all the high school coaches unless the scout comes to your school and talks to them.

2 quick examples of what I'm talking about.  Old boy who plays for the Patriots(his name escapes me) started at Morgan St.  Ended up at UofH.  I don't know if he gets that shot under Nuemann.  Also, Sage Sei(sp) had to get film from Central and Ozen to get at look from McNeese.  All my Nederland examples come from ex players/parents.  Again, I stand on my original statement for him to stay at home in his rocking chair.  Please and thanks

PA send a lot of kids to small colleges and JUCOs.  Nuemann, not so much
