Time to go undefeated the rest of the season!

That’s it.  We have had the toughest part of our schedule now it’s time to put it Ll together and get on a roll.  No one said it would be easy but we know it is within these young men, time for them to take control.

Next Tuesday will be very interesting.  It's clear that this team will have to dig deep.  They won't be running past everybody like last year.  That playoff run was phenomenal, beating decent teams by 40 points.  The point differentials were staggering right up to the Yates game.  That's not going to happen this year.

Comments from RCS Sports

The Woodlands defeated Silsbee 68-63 on Tuesday night. The Woodlands were playing without Incarnate Word signee Romello Wilbert who is out with an injury.  This is not a good look for Silsbee.  Although they are still the team to beat in Region 3, the gap between Silsbee and Yates is "even-steven" at best.  The Woodlands' freshman RJ Keene picked up the slack with 17p. Silsbee was led by senior Kalon Barnes who scored 18p in the loss.

No way ..from what I seen this year is yates  30 points better than silsbee..but true at this point yates are a better team..silsbee can beat Yates if they are slipping ...if yates aren’t making three’s and if silsbee rebounds and  slows down the dunks/fast-breaks they can’ beat them.

Too many "if's" to overcome.

Yates wins easily. They are the prohibitive favorite to win Region III. They have proven it all season long.

Yates and Silsbee play a similar style of game, both teams lives and dies with the 3's and fast break points.  Yates has the edge with depth, and inside play. I can guarantee you one thing, Coach Wise will not come out of his full court press and history has shown that a team that presses doesn't like to be pressed.  It's going to be a good game if both teams make it back to Huntsville.

I agree...I have never seen yates get out of the press ..and one year it cost them a championship vs kimball....silsbee will zone and  get out of the press sometimes if needed..yates press is more choatic ..it’s like they include the refs with the press ..it looks as if they have extra players on the court...silsbee’s is more fundamental and controlled...should be a decent game ...not by 30 tho both teams play with too much heart and pride to make it that far and lose by 30

I don't know if Silsbee has the dogs to win state. I guess their just satisfied with one championship. I will say they have disappointed me in a few games with the lack of defense and one on one play. Seems to have a few players who rush up shots. I think they will get on track in district but don' think they will beat Yates. Huntsville isn' promised. They really miss graduates Bruce Newton, Calvin, Tyler, Mike McCain, Trajon Harris, and Willie Jones III. All those guys were defensive enforcers. Silsbee has maybe one kid that I have seen maybe 2 who have that skill to play defense. They have played a very difficult schedule to say the lease. We still must remember their loses have been to 6A and one 4A who they traveled like 3 hours on a school night to play. No excuses but Silsbee needs to buckle down. Not sure if they have a court leader yet.

Saying they don’t have the dogs to win state, then saying in the next sentence that they must be satisfied with one championship seems sort of contradictory.

Kind of, but I get what he’s saying.  In basketball speak, a dog is a kid who will do whatever it takes to win.   Rebound, defense, loose balls, etc.  Some would say a dog is a dog because he’s “hungry” (and not satisfied).   You could fairly characterize most, if not all of last year’s seniors listed as dogs.  Every championship teams needs some dogs.  So while you can argue that the most talented Tigers from last year’s team returned, they need some of them to start playing like dogs.

To clarify my "Yates wins by 30" comments, it seems some have taken it literally. No way in hell do I actually think Yates will beat Silsbee by 30. It's sarcasm. Some on here get it, others did not. My apologies.

I guess I need to insert the "roll eyes" when I make those kind of comments. My bad.

I truly believe Silsbee is still the favorite to win Region III and beat Yates.

No one in 4A not even Yates has played the schedule Silsbee has played. I don't think Center could beat Silsbee on a neutral court and I don' see Hardin Jefferson beating Silsbee next week. I see Silsbee rolling thru to the regional finals and beating Yates 87-82 to advance to state where it could be a Semifinals or Finals showdown vs Dallas Carter. Out of all the non district loses Silsbee only took one beat down to Wagner and played the following week within 10 points with football players. Maybe PA Memorial or Westbrook could have played Silsbee schedule and had one or two more wins. None would beat Wagner, Duncanville, Concordia, or Atascocita. They will go into the playoffs at 23-8 and they will be fine. This year' schedule was harder than last year' with 5 less seniors. IMO kids like Chris Martin, Sells, and Newton will find their groove here soon. Go Tigers!!!
