Probably easier to have too many games and need to back out of one than to not have enough games and wind up scrambling late to find one

Tell them to call Coach Nelson at 409-...  Nevermind, I wouldn't want my Jaguars to get embarrassed by a 3A school.  But maybe it would be a good thing because some of these city kids don't take what

Yep, probably so, on their own without the coaches having to tell them anything.

I’m fairly certain they’re already out flipping tires around the courthouse this morning.

Yep. There is so much more to this story. Silsbee was told by Jasper to find another baseball and soccer tourney to play in for THIS season. They were originally scheduled to play in Jasper's baseball and soccer tourneys coming up.

Looks to me that Barbay is eliminating Silsbee from Jasper's world.

Week 1 was with Kirbyville(cancelled), Week 3 was Diboll(40-20), Week 5 was E. Chambers(60-17). Guess they must to have cancelled out on Newton. Diboll was a decent team, would have liked to played them again. Looks like maybe Silsbee may still be on our schedule, they are always a tough game.

Last go round Jasper did not want to play WOS anymore and reportedly did not want to play Silsbee but the administration made them play Silsbee. I hope they end up in Silsbee's District. Overall I believe they still have a winning record against Silsbee.

This year they say their not playing Silsbee in anything.

For years Jasper has played a small school schedule in Basketball but still was highly competitive in Football. I hope they don't go to a small school schedule in football. That makes the coaches record look good but does not create many state championship situations. Jasper is one of those schools that could jump in there and beat a WOS which would make them a statewide contender. 

This year Silsbee played three schools that went all the way to the state finals. They did not win any of the games but you have to compliment their willingness to compete.

The Jasper thing is very interesting.

Was wondering why Silsbee had to go look for another baseball tourney. Jasper has a good baseball tourney. Maybe Jasper got tired of losing to Silsbee and like they did WOS just dropped Silsbee.

That's a shame. Is Barbay running scared? For these two towns that are roughly 50 miles apart have one of the best rivalry around.

The Jasper thing is very interesting.

So, Silsbee may have to find three game if their district is smaller. Why is Jasper bugging out and we all know Shadow Creek will be 6A. Maybe a Navasota or Huffman will step up.

      That there’s not a single thread on the fact that the Republican nominee is on trial for paying off a porn star with whom he had an affair while the future First Lady was carrying said nominee’s child.    I remember back when the dirty, no-good Dems sacked Gary Hart over something similar.       I hear what you’re saying, BUT… that hammers the hell out of poor people and the ones with multiple properties don’t eat any more than the poor ones. In fact, you’d basically just be taxing a lot of peoples’ EBT payments. The government  can’t get ahead by taxing what they’re already borrowing to give to people.    I think well off people should pay more… but the scale as it exists is broken.    For the sake of argument, my mom’s house in Groves is valued at $125k. 2/1/1 on a slab.  Her tax bill is $850/year. Without exemptions, her bill would be 3200. It’s right on JCAD’s website. The problem is this…. If someone tries to rent out an identical house, they’d expect to get, what… $1200/month? If you take into account that homeowners/windstorm/flood is a minimum of another $2k per year, you’d need $5k a year just to cover the taxes and insurance. That’s four months (1/3 of the year) just to cover those costs, not counting a potential mortgage payment. But then everybody cries about how expensive rents are… you can’t tax the hell out of non-homestead property to make up for gifts given to homeowners in the form of big tax cuts. It just doesn’t work.    Ten acres in Lumberton? I’ve got a buddy with 10 acres in Lumberton on HWY 69. Prime property… it’s his retirement plan. Sale it one day and cash in. The CAD decided that it no longer qualifies for a special use valuation (timber) and stripped his “exemption.” His 2023 tax bill jumped from $25 to $22,000…. It’s insane.

      They’re going to have win almost all remaining games and get finals of tournament to think about an at-large. When LU was in the WAC, Grand Canyon got an at-large after New Mexico St came out of nowhere to win conference tournament. Grand Canyon had a dang good resume that year. It can happen, but resume wise isn’t in their favor.
