Do teachers make that much?

Always the response.  And never a good one.

Head coaches that are athletic directors are considered administrators.  Same as Principal’s.  Head coaches that are campus directors, or whatever other title they may hold, maybe considered that as well.

They also are in charge of over 200 student athletes at many places, and some places way more.

They are also under massive public scrutiny.  Teachers not so much.

At probably all the schools mentioned in the article, they probably bring in close to 100K $ per home game.  Teachers don’t.

Schools are for teaching.  It would still go on without athletics.  In your response never once talked about the main purpose of schools.

I agree.  Education is the main propose.  But this is also Texas.  The best high school football state in the USA, and a great importance and priority is placed in high school football.  If you don’t like it, jump on the bandwagon of the progressives and try to abolish it.  Until then, football will remain king in Texas, and the ones great at coaching it will be paid a handsome salary.

You can also run for your local school board, or state representative and make all the changes you want.  I just wouldn’t let your platform be known. You WOULD NOT get elected.

Never once said abolish football.  Said as long as teachers can't get paid this much then no one should.  With that being said, I would support the legislature capping what high school head coaches make.  It's only fair for the teachers!

One could also argue that teaching isn't what it used to be. Not a lot of teaching going on when you send kids home with no text books but an I pad.

What people never take into consideration is that coaches also teach!  The majority of them also coach more than one sport.  That takes them away from their families and their workload is unreal.  Granted, AD/HC's are paid administrators.  Most of them ALSO have to take care of the junior high personnel.  Yes, there may be a campus coordinator, but they answer to the AD.  AD oversees all athletic programs, attends most every game in every sport, works 12 months, and is pretty much on call 24/7.  Teachers do not make enough PERIOD, but to compare their salary to a coach, HC/AD is apples and oranges.  Until you are closely associated to the coaching profession, it is hard to comprehend.

Shoot - let's up teachers salaries - don't think you'll get much of an argument there

However, Head Football Coaches who also serve an administrative roll should be paid administrative salaries

Not sure I would agree that administrators should be paid this type of money either!

I found a website that all the coaches salaries expect jasper lcm and wos all the other 499 school were on there and  I seen nothing less than 98,000

That's not a complete list because there are many HC's that make less thatn 98K.  Prime example, the 3 in Beaumont last I checked make a dismal 85K and there are many others in the area in that range or lower.  Hopefully, if Beaumont goes to 2 high schools, the current AD will get those HC's at least the state average of 100K so that we will draw some better applicants the next time they come open.

This will never be the answer. Teaching like coaching should be performance based but teacher unions dictate their wages and benefits. Head football coaches are usually the ADs and considered administration. Assistant coaches (who also teach) wages are more in line with teacher pay. So, teachers can make more money if they do more than teach; i.e. coach, teach music, tutor, drive buses, etc., etc. It's just like any other JOB in the USA. My daughter has raised her salary by doing these things, continuing her education and moving up in the food chain. That's how it works.

Coaches in Florida would kill to make what even the lower-paid coaches in Texas make. If you include salary+stipend, the head coach where I'm at now probably makes somewhere between 45-50k. So in Florida, you have to teach (most head football coaches here aren't ADs, it doesn't pay like TX).

People on this board may not love what I say, but I believe this: the difference between TX and FL isn't athletes. That part is a wash. But the commitment TX has to pouring resources into athletic programs is what makes it stand out. St Thomas Aquinas, one of the best programs in the state, is 7A and plays in a stadium closer to what a 4A would play at in TX.

Anyways, to get back to my point. TX coaches have it easier on the pay front, probably a little more unreasonable level of pressure as well.

    • Yeah, I got that but talk about a stretch. It should seem obvious that Trump’s prosecution is purely political. If someone is going to do a whataboutism, at least make it similar.  This is so ludicrous that it’s like comparing a ham sandwich to a wallet.
    • You consistently try to say Trump ran our debt up and that the stock market and job market cratered during his administration (along with other MSNBC talking points). That is a flat out LIE, and you know it. Not only are you telling a mistruth, you knowingly are telling a mistruth...which is a blatant LIE...which makes you a "(I don't remember what word you used to describe Trump, something like a purse for dirt)" does it not? You know for a fact that the economy, stock market, and job market was thriving under Trump. You know that the Democrats controlled the house, and proposed a budget that would hurt the economy, in which he shut down the government. Even after this fiasco brought on by Democrats, our economy flourished under his administration. Then Covid19 hit, and the blue states shut down the country. YOU KNOW THIS, but continue to blame Trump. You lie...blatantly. Again, what do we call these people that partake in disseminating misleading information. You coined it...that purse thing. Does the shoe fit? I bet it does. It is amazing that you try to put "MAGA people" into this little box for the soul purpose of allowing all negative attributes of anyone that will vote for Trump instead of Biden to be attributed. That is a sickening modus operandi of stupid people. It is hard for me to believe that you would adopt that childish stereotyping. But since you are willing, I'm willing to push back. I'm a Trump supporter. I will gladly vote for him over Biden. So get busy putting me in your silly little box of stereotypes so I can embarrass you some more. You've been shot down by practically everyone on this board when you say stuff like Trump is their Messiah, or that supporters overlook his flaws. Everyone on this board has stated that they don't agree with Trump on much of his behavior, but you ignore these statements and continue with your lies. Oh yeah, since I'm a Trump supporter, those comments were also directed directly at me. So let's go. Prove I'm a simpleton that will ignore all of Trump's flaws and vow to disown the bad ol' orangeman. Let's continue that diatribe you peddle. I now am interested in responding. I also have boxes I can place people in. Whose box is accurate? Better yet, whose box is more embarrassing? I'm fairly certain your box is more entertaining for the board to make fun of. TDS should be included in the DSM-6, or revise the DSM-5 to include it since this phenomenon is so pervasive now. You are a walking, talking picture of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Do you like that box? Can you refute the rationale for placing you in that box. Everyone can refute your rationale for placing them into your irrational box, while you languish in your TDS box.
    • Clinton got impeached because of it. David Pecker said it was true about Stormy today. Under oath.
    • Election interference. Cheating.
    • It’s not about worrying about Trump’s morality. It’s about him being held to a totally hypocritical standard that is applied to anybody else that’s not him. Double it if it happens to be a Democrat. What he did to Ted Cruz in 2016, for example. Accused him of extramarital affairs. Really? And the gang cheered the Master on. Sick is what it is.
