I'm with you, the black and silver color scheme looks the best regardless of what name and mascot is chosen.

Ashley, show us what his 1st choice would look like using your program.

The black and silver would look good with the Ozen-Central one too.

Ok, Jag, if not the mighty Ocelots then Black and Silver Oilers would be cool.....but black and silver for sure. I always thought those colors were intimidating.

Don't know bout the mascot, but there will be some straight running ballers in that mix!

Yea, if they end up combining who ever the coach is, he has to be able to get  the kids out the hallways and out the neighborhoods and back on the field, and.get the parents to stop sending the kids out the Northend and Pear Orchard to Westbrook..

If he can coach worth a flip I can see instant success

From what I gather from the last couple of meetings that I've attended, there won't be any "sending the kids" anywhere.  The address that you have will determine the school that your child will attend if they are indeed merged.  2 different boundary lines are currently in play.

#1, Using I-10 from the Thomas Center to where it splits into Hwy.69/96 going towards the mall.  I think it incorporates also everything North of Hwy. 105 would go to the merger school.

#2, Using I-10 that runs besides Babe Zaharious from east to west.  Just imagine if I-10 didn't turn to the left when coming from Babe and just kept straight through the west end on Gladys.  North of it would go to "what is currently" none as West Brook (name would be changed).  South of it would go to the Ozen campus.

I'm personally pushing the #SAVECENTRAL campaign but if that doesn't happen, I'd prefer option #1.

Either way it goes, TexasBall you are correct, need to get the kids out of the hallways and back on the field.

Good, cus the way it is now, Westbrook is practically stealing Ozens kids , so rather they divied or not they need to start enforcing these zones, cus they're practically suffocating Ozen

If BISD stayed with 3

I would love for it to be everything south of College and East of I10, go to Ozen (Avenues, Pear Orchard, South End, South park , Tyrell Park)

Central has , everything North of college and North of I10 and East of HWY 96 , North end (Magnolia, Concord, Lucas, ect)  Helbig, Vothz, Old Town, Park North

Westbrook gets Everything West of 10 and HWY 96 also (some of cheeks, Nome, China)

Tram Road can just split on rather they go to Central.or Westbrook

I hope i explaned that right lol

Nope..  imo, South End, Old Town, North end and Avenues should be at Central.  Pear Orchard, South Park, and Terrell Park should be at Ozen.  West Brook should be West End (West of I-10).

Bevil oaks goes to West Brook while the Voth kids and the Park North kids can split between Central and West Brook...

I can see that to, thats how it was with my Son , Southend and Aves went to Central. my only thing was if you gone send South Beaumont to Ozen you Midas well send The Whole.South to Ozen including Southend and Aves cus at the end of the day they're still to different Neighborhoods and its the non Athletes you had to worry about having problems., which I'm sure you know.what I mean by that

And if you gone send North Beaumont to Central send the Whole North Beaumont to Central including Vothz, & Park North and Tram. us thats nothing but Deep North while letting Bevil Oaks go WB..

I can see either way tho,

Attended the board meeting tonight, pretty much no new answers from Dr. Frossard and the board concerning Central.  Short version is that they are waiting on the final answer from the insurance company before they make a final decision.  UIL has given them sometime in January (nobody had the exact date) to turn in their decision.  The next board meeting is scheduled for January 18th.

Myself and a group of others are working together on different ideas of keeping Central, whether that be on the original Central campus or on Smith middle school campus.  Last resort is a merger.

I hope the tax payers and families get what they want most out of this deal.

looks like central students will become ozen students until the new campus can be built.

A committee of students, alumni and other leaders from both schools will be formed to come up with a new name for the merged high school, subject to BOM approval.

    • That there’s not a single thread on the fact that the Republican nominee is on trial for paying off a porn star with whom he had an affair while the future First Lady was carrying said nominee’s child.    I remember back when the dirty, no-good Dems sacked Gary Hart over something similar. Same thing with John Edwards and later Anthony Weiner.    But y’all keep pretending God is on your side, lol.
    • I hear what you’re saying, BUT… that hammers the hell out of poor people and the ones with multiple properties don’t eat any more than the poor ones. In fact, you’d basically just be taxing a lot of peoples’ EBT payments. The government  can’t get ahead by taxing what they’re already borrowing to give to people.    I think well off people should pay more… but the scale as it exists is broken.    For the sake of argument, my mom’s house in Groves is valued at $125k. 2/1/1 on a slab.  Her tax bill is $850/year. Without exemptions, her bill would be 3200. It’s right on JCAD’s website. The problem is this…. If someone tries to rent out an identical house, they’d expect to get, what… $1200/month? If you take into account that homeowners/windstorm/flood is a minimum of another $2k per year, you’d need $5k a year just to cover the taxes and insurance. That’s four months (1/3 of the year) just to cover those costs, not counting a potential mortgage payment. But then everybody cries about how expensive rents are… you can’t tax the hell out of non-homestead property to make up for gifts given to homeowners in the form of big tax cuts. It just doesn’t work.    Ten acres in Lumberton? I’ve got a buddy with 10 acres in Lumberton on HWY 69. Prime property… it’s his retirement plan. Sale it one day and cash in. The CAD decided that it no longer qualifies for a special use valuation (timber) and stripped his “exemption.” His 2023 tax bill jumped from $25 to $22,000…. It’s insane.
    • I’m curious what happened… they aren’t even in full pads yet.
    • They’re going to have win almost all remaining games and get finals of tournament to think about an at-large. When LU was in the WAC, Grand Canyon got an at-large after New Mexico St came out of nowhere to win conference tournament. Grand Canyon had a dang good resume that year. It can happen, but resume wise isn’t in their favor.
