Splendora Fiasco

I'm usually pretty level headed about all this high school football stuff, but I have to speak out about our game on Friday.  Holy Cow, what a shatshow!! There were probably 25 flags tossed against us at a minimum.  I hate to say it but Splendora played like a bunch of thugs.  3 late hits after the play was over caused 1 and probably 2 concussions for our kids.  No ejections for obvious dangerous play.  One ref threw the flag for off sides ... from his position 25 yards away in the secondary. Home cooking and painfully obvious.  Bryson was the kid that got knocked out ... literally.  He was 3 yards out of bounds and had given up on the play. We got the win, but that game was total BS.  I know its just a fan complaining about another team or the refs, but ...... wow.

It was not a clean game to say the least but let me give you some facts since you called kids "Thugs" and said Home Cooking was obvious.

Penalties for Splendora - 11 for 82 yards

Penalties for KPark - 8 for 58 yards.

Total Personal fouls/15 yard penalties -  Splendora with 4 and KPark with 3.

Two Splendora kids were ejected which you said none were

Number 6 was 1 yard out of bounds not 3.  This was the only late hit called - the other was kick/catch interference.  Now that could of been an ejection for possible helmet to helmet but the ball landed 1 yard from the returner and no fair catch was called.  A play that reduced the chanced of winning and they most certainly still had a chance at the time so not sure you or anyone knows what the kid was thinking.

The last thing I will tell you is to log into hudl and watch number 6 on the first two offensive plays for KP and tell me who set the tempo for that type of game.

Not saying there was not blame for Splendora just not going to let you get on here and give false statements.

First I apologize to the forum - this was no place to vent. Maybe it was the Bourbon talking. I won't do it again.  BUT it seems AllSports joined up just to respond to me (all of 2 posts) so I'll respond to him/her.

I don't have a HUDL account. You seem to have a very detailed account of the penalties of this game. Like a ref would. Does your total include all the off-setting penalties that were called? Curious. I was in the stands and it looked like our kid was 3 yards out of bounds when he was hit since some of the kids on the sidelines also got knocked over. You say it was only a yard - I guess you had a better view than me.  Like a ref would.  And, finally, you seem to insinuate that the punt returner was a fault for even trying to field the punt - and that it's his fault he got hit early.  That's just stupid.  Defenseless player + helmet to helmet = ejection in most leagues. You seem to question his intelligence - on 11/15 he'll be at the Touchdown Club Scholar Athlete luncheon.  He's a finalist. You can ask him if he's dumb.

Aren't there social media rules for school district and UIL employees to follow?

I'm done talking about Splendora. I just can't believe we have to root for Porter since we didn't take care of our own business. Dang it again!!

You are correct that I did set up this account to respond to your post.  I am not an official that much I can promise you. If your child plays then you  have access to Hudl. The total amount of penalties did include the two off setting but the amount of yardage is without them.  Here is what you should know - I am a big fan of both teams.  The hit was one yard not three. Everything I stated was the truth BUT I NEVER said it was the punt returners fault in fact I said it probably should of been an ejection.  I actually know the kid and felt bad for him.  I never said anything about his intelligence.  The word THUGS and your misleading statements is why I responded.  Believe it or not I am rooting for Porter to beat BH and I hope KP gets in.  I also hope that both kids are ok.

I think a lot of what is happening can be laid at the feet of the refs.  Taunting and trash talking seems to be the start of it from the games I have seen.  It esclates from there.  Throw the flag for head to head, then talk it over.  Wave the flag off if deemed not tarketing.  Warn the players for taunting early, if not cleaned up, throw the flag.  One early taunting flag will go a long way to settle the game in my view.  I understand the refs do not want to ruin tha game but they need to take control early.

I agree that the refs should get ahold of things, but in my opinion the blame goes in this order: parents, then players, then coaches, then the refs. It starts with how these players are being raised and coached.
