New details out now...

It's alleged that Principal Reeves was having an affair with this secretary.  Statements given by admin indicate that the secretary gave details regarding the affair.  The Super questioned the principal who denied the affair.  The Super told the Principal that there would be an investigation and if it turned out that the affair HAD occurred, then he (Reeves) would be fired.  If Reeves resigned, then there wouldn't be an investigation.... so Reeves drug up.

If (and I have no idea if it's true) Reeves had a relationship with a subordinate, then the school was forced to act.  It's really a shame if the allegations turn out to be true and the current admin was being vague in an effort to protect Mr. Reeves family (and legacy) and now they're force by "inquiring minds" to air a lot of Mr. Reeves dirty laundry.

That's the whole problem with "dipping your pen in the company ink." Your indiscretion becomes the company's (or in this case, school) problem.  They are the "deep pockets" that have to worry about litigation, sexual harrasment claims, etc, etc.....

EXACTLY!!!

Public always wanting the complete truth sometimes makes matters worse.

Inquiring minds want to know.

That's interesting on a couple of different levels.  I'm wondering if the secretary went to admin with a complaint OR if admin just chose to act now?

It wouldn't be the first time a super tried to move a guy out so that he (the super) could hire a buddy or something.

Why was the principal still on the payroll if "most locals even knew about it?"

Messy, messy.

IF the family knew about it and IF it was public knowledge, then why was he so shaken?

It does sound like a classic PowerPlay by the Superintendent to get rid of a popular leader. Or, it could be there was a relapse and the secretary was seeking some sort of revenge by making a "sexual harassment" claim.

Either way, I think the Superintendent has put himself in a very bad position.

Between the HC/AD and now this, I don't see how the super survives.

What makes it even more ironic is I've got a friend over in Brazos County that swears something similar (rather than applying for other super jobs) is what got Wallis shown the door over there.

My math says:

1.  Newton's principal quit.

2.  Burkeville's super is probably done

3.  Kirbyville needing a new principal, assistant principal, and probably a super

It's getting really late in the year to have that much turnover in such a relatively small area.

I actually heard that this was another affair that hadn't been originally disclosed.

I dont know. Somebody posted a story saying that the current secretary posted on fb that the "affair" occurred between the principal and his old secretary... and the new secretary has been on the job for a year.

Doesn't explain why admin had the secretary writing up an account on the day of the shooting. Boy, can you imagine the mess if it turns out that the super was mistaken and thought the affair that everybody knew about was with the current secretary?

I don't see the super still being the super at the first of next year.

You know, when Greg Neece resigned (admittedly pretty abruptly) a lot of folks here were asking why.  After the events of the past couple of weeks, you can't help but wonder if in some way we are finally getting the answer to that question.

Why is everyone convinced that the Superintendent has something to do with the suicide? It seems pretty cut and dried to me, and it is a very sad story that doesn't need to be inflamed with a conspiracy theory. The man got caught in his second affair, he was losing his job, probably going to lose his wife and his kids were at the age that they might decide to never speak do him again for doing this to their family. It weighted heavily and he thought he was beyond repair. End of story.

There is still a hole in this story. If the affair had already been investigated in 2015, why was it being brought up again? No one in their right mind can actually believe that Wallis brought it up to try and force Reeves to resign, or be fired, nearly two years later. I can only assume that what is missing is a separate allegation regarding the same employee. Maybe they got caught again. Either way, the only reason any of us know these details is because the "tin foil hats" jumped out to allude that Wallis may have murdered Reeves right after this happened! Leave this alone, let his family heal, quit picking at the scab before the entire story hits the paper and the family is caused much more harm!

Sorry, but here is the whole in your theory, contained in this story:

This is the hidden content, please

"Chief Brister says from what he's been told, the alleged affair had ended long before last week's meeting."

As to the reason that we know these details of all of this is due to Wallis' own conduct.  He told not one, but multiple media outlets statewide, that the meeting between him, Sayers and Reeves was to go over summer school and teacher assignments and that Reeves was not compelled to resign.  Then when asked to comment on an allegation made to KFDM that at the meeting, he referred them to law enforcement.  After which Kirbyville PD Chief Paul Brister released the statements of Wallis and Sayers which contradict the account that they gave the media and make the admission that they had indeed threatened Dennis Reeves with his job over the allegation of an illicit affair with his former secretary, which, as Chief Brister noted above  was ended "long before last week's meeting."

That sandwiched with the sudden resignation of the district athletic director to take a position as not only not the athletic director, not the head coach, not even a coordinator position, but a position coach as a smaller school with a dramatic decrease in salary as well as earlier this week the sudden resignation of an assistant principal who as part of his resignation message wrote: " I'm not sure where I will end up, but I do know that if I were to stay under the present circumstances it would compromise my integrity and it would not be loyal to Dennis. For me to keep silent would also be disloyal to our school and our entire district. It's not what I want to do ... it's right vs. wrong."  certainly would tend to raise some eyebrows.

Has Wallis done anything illegal?  No.  Even if this is the power play that many think it is, there is nothing against the law and in fact is recognized as a pretty regular tactic among new supers.  Still he has done enough cloak and dagger to entitle the Kirbyville community to question his motives, especially after the death, albeit unintended, of a pretty popular faculty member.

    • Yeah, I got that but talk about a stretch. It should seem obvious that Trump’s prosecution is purely political. If someone is going to do a whataboutism, at least make it similar.  This is so ludicrous that it’s like comparing a ham sandwich to a wallet.
    • You consistently try to say Trump ran our debt up and that the stock market and job market cratered during his administration (along with other MSNBC talking points). That is a flat out LIE, and you know it. Not only are you telling a mistruth, you knowingly are telling a mistruth...which is a blatant LIE...which makes you a "(I don't remember what word you used to describe Trump, something like a purse for dirt)" does it not? You know for a fact that the economy, stock market, and job market was thriving under Trump. You know that the Democrats controlled the house, and proposed a budget that would hurt the economy, in which he shut down the government. Even after this fiasco brought on by Democrats, our economy flourished under his administration. Then Covid19 hit, and the blue states shut down the country. YOU KNOW THIS, but continue to blame Trump. You lie...blatantly. Again, what do we call these people that partake in disseminating misleading information. You coined it...that purse thing. Does the shoe fit? I bet it does. It is amazing that you try to put "MAGA people" into this little box for the soul purpose of allowing all negative attributes of anyone that will vote for Trump instead of Biden to be attributed. That is a sickening modus operandi of stupid people. It is hard for me to believe that you would adopt that childish stereotyping. But since you are willing, I'm willing to push back. I'm a Trump supporter. I will gladly vote for him over Biden. So get busy putting me in your silly little box of stereotypes so I can embarrass you some more. You've been shot down by practically everyone on this board when you say stuff like Trump is their Messiah, or that supporters overlook his flaws. Everyone on this board has stated that they don't agree with Trump on much of his behavior, but you ignore these statements and continue with your lies. Oh yeah, since I'm a Trump supporter, those comments were also directed directly at me. So let's go. Prove I'm a simpleton that will ignore all of Trump's flaws and vow to disown the bad ol' orangeman. Let's continue that diatribe you peddle. I now am interested in responding. I also have boxes I can place people in. Whose box is accurate? Better yet, whose box is more embarrassing? I'm fairly certain your box is more entertaining for the board to make fun of. TDS should be included in the DSM-6, or revise the DSM-5 to include it since this phenomenon is so pervasive now. You are a walking, talking picture of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Do you like that box? Can you refute the rationale for placing you in that box. Everyone can refute your rationale for placing them into your irrational box, while you languish in your TDS box.
    • Clinton got impeached because of it. David Pecker said it was true about Stormy today. Under oath.
    • Election interference. Cheating.
    • It’s not about worrying about Trump’s morality. It’s about him being held to a totally hypocritical standard that is applied to anybody else that’s not him. Double it if it happens to be a Democrat. What he did to Ted Cruz in 2016, for example. Accused him of extramarital affairs. Really? And the gang cheered the Master on. Sick is what it is.
