Wow can you elaborate haven't been on board much

A board meeting is underway where the De Soto ISD, 2016 6A, DII State Champion, is supposedly going to announce that they will not renew the contract of Coach Petermans, the coach that led them to the state title.

Watching the meeting now...they haven't gotten to that point yet.

Unless there is some underlying reason that the public doesn't know about, this is an absolutely ridiculous move on the surface.

The reason being bandied about has NOTHING to do with job performance.

It is alleged by some in the community that some of the board members no longer want a white head coach for the predominately black De Soto High.

Thanks

Doubt they will announce that his contract has not been renewed. Normally they only announce hirings and resignations.

True, but everyone, well in the State now, knows that Peterman's contract renewal is being considered in that executive session.  If they do not announce any action, that equals no renewal and a hot time in the DFDub tonight.

From what I have been able to gather, the views of those members of the school board (if they vote that way) that want him out do not reflect the community.

Sounds like some board members have been throwing spaghetti on the wall to see if it will stick.

Feels like they may not get the results they hoped for.

What is the reasoning of the school board not renewing his contract? Is it just because he is white? What will there answer be on why? They might want to rethink this decision because if the wrong thing is said on why he will own that school. This has major lawsuit written all over it. I wonder how many lawyers have contacted him already on wanting to represent him?

Sad.  Central has probably the same demographic breakdown as DeSoto and I have 2 boys in the Jaguar program.  I wouldn't care what color a coach was at Central if he puts a winning program on the field, kids in college and caps it off by winning a state championship...

either 3 or 4 of the members are up for re-election THIS year.

Apparently it is 3 up for re-election and according to a reporter from DMN, 2 of those are Peterman supporters and are not favored to keep their seats..

If that is the case, we might just have the reason that no action was taken THIS month.

Even if they decide to keep him, why would you want to be somewhere you're not wanted and supported by those you work for?

Peterman will be fine and will be able to pick his job when he leaves.  DeSoto will be the one that loses in this situation.  What coach that is worth the damn would take that job after the way he was treated?

Anyone who wants to win a state championship would take the job. they would just think that it would never happen to them because that new board would have hired him.
