This will close out the first half of district.  The race looks to be tight for the 3&4 positions.  Spurger looks to be in the driver's seat for the top-seed on the 1-A side.

There are some major beat downs going on in this district, not a whole lot of close games.

Your absolutely correct and does nothing for either team! Wish there was more competitive teams in this district,  because it effects the teams in the playoffs when we play another team that can compete! Not use to having to step it up a notch! It is what it is!

It has been this way for several years.  Wish the district was more competitive.

In all sports.  There have been some improvements in football & basketball, but there's still a ways to go.

So what is the answer?  I have a hard time comprehending this too.  I know little league is not as popular as it used to be, but it's there.  West Hardin is close to Kountze, and Kountze has a pretty established little league.  HD is not far from Liberty.  HI is not too far away from Winnie who has an established PONY program.  Evadale has it's own little league that plays against Buna and Silsbee.  SP has Port Arthur LL.  Big Sandy might be the most isolated, but they have Livingston close by.

I have 3 boys, all playing LL/Pony when they were younger. Only 1 really loved it, and wanted to play as much as possible (travel / LL / Overseas).  To be good you have to play.  There was one year my son played at BCLL, all-stars, Gladiator travel ball, and Coast to Coast in Puerto Rico.  He played 95 games that season and he was 12.  We have so many opportunities available to parents. Our travel team we called the Hicks from the sticks.  We played with the Gladiators, but the players were all from small towns.

Sports is a funnel.  You'll start out at 5-6 year olds with EVERY kid playing.  As you progress kids fall out because of varying things. Parents in communities with little success have to get their kids involved.  Small schools are difficult.  Take the baseball coach.  He is getting a kid that has been in football, basketball and then quickly transitions to baseball.  I don't care how good a coach he is, if you as a parent haven't provided the foundation, that coach is not going to be able to help much.

Play baseball!  Mine loved it so it was never a problem.  If your kid is good in little league, find a travel club for them.  Then you can find a fall league so they can get their AB's.  Even during basketball, and we had a successful year, my son would travel an hour every Wednesday to Livingston for pitching lessons.  Parents have to be involved long before they get to HS for a program to be successful.  Sorry - off my soapbox now.

    • Here’s the thing. I keep dropping facts on you, and you keep on knee-jerk saying “all lies!” I’ve asked you multiple times to point out whatever I’ve said that is factually wrong…but you can’t.  You might not like the facts, and they might make your eyes sweat a little… but it doesn’t change the fact that they are as true. Heck, deep down inside you might even know that Ol’ CB is right, but you believe Trump isn’t to blame. That, sir, does not turn the truth into a lie. What you should have said was is “that may be true, but I’m giving Trump a pass because…” Not “that’s a lie” when the numbers don’t lie.    But for you and everyone that  believes Trump was good for the economy, I’ll give another of my beloved and informative analogies that might help you finally understand.    A man handles his Family’s finances.  He makes a decision that life could be better, so he’s like “this is our year!” He stops all contributions to retirement accounts (cuts taxes) then proceeds to book a trip to Disney, buys nice things for the family and maxes out all possible lines of credit…. Now they’re facing bankruptcy.  The kids (y’all) are now arguing “things were so much better when  Dad (Trump, also your Daddy) was in charge! We had nice things!” The man set us on a course for ruin with deficit spending, then it accelerated with COVID, then he was such a pig that Biden got elected, and now we’re facing another “anybody but Trump” loss in the November, guaranteeing four more years of nonsense from which we’ll probably never recover. The debt is just insurmountable. We shouldn’t be surprised, either.  Trump has always been a “borrow as much as we can and pray (errrr, hope….not pray. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t do a lot of that) that it all works out” as evidenced by his businesses which have repeatedly bankrupted.
    • Something we probably already knew.  Remember -- soros is Jewish!!  It's been reported that he sided with the nazis during the Holocaust!   Again -- the devil has this snake of a person!
    • Professor Shugerman had a piece yesterday (In The New York Times) explaining the ways in which the Alvin Bragg case against Trump is quite thin gruel and a very bad idea, calling it an embarrassment and a mistake. Kudos to him.
