How is SETX basketball teams going to be next year?

East Chambers returns basically everyone, and will still be pretty young. They will compete for a DC next year.

I will put out my top 10 for 3A and 4A.... E. C will definitely be much improved with a year returning everybody on a tean that was good.. Only no brainer is Silsbee will be the best in Setx  and possibly top 5 in the whole state

Central returns a couple of big time recruits in Arceneaux and Dill.  Also with a breakout season from Williams, we have a legit big 3. We also return the PG, that was coming into his own this year...Next year, I love our chance to beat Silsbee in the nondistrict matchup and win district outright...

Silsbee supposedly has a kid who was already dunking in game at the 8th grade level. I didn't watch any of those games. I don't know how tall or who the player is.

I'd expect a growth spurt for all the freshman on the team, except for maybe Braylon. I don't think he'll shoot up too much more, not that it matters.

I dint expect any growth from Bralon...  I believe he is already the same height as his dad.

Silsbee will be the favorites to win state the next two years (and ranked accordingly). Barring injuries, '18-19 should be their best team.

I think this years team was their best team. Even though I know that Devon, Jordyn, Bush, and Chris Martin are going to be animals 2019... I do not see them being as deep and complete as this years team. I still say they win at least 1 more but probably two.

Maybe the sophomore class can do what the class of 07 for Kountze did. 3 state titles and Regional Finalists

Not as deep but their best 3 players were underclassmen imo.   If they improve the way they should, they won't be as deep but still better.  Silsbee was deeper than probably every team in the state regardless of class.  Doesn't mean they would beat everyone obviously.

This is such a true statement. If you look at the box scores of all the games, Silsbee's bench played more minutes and scored more points than any other team in the tourney, all classifications. And both games for Silsbee were close games, not blowouts where you "empty" the bench in 4th Q.

The Argyle game is a great example. Close game throughout, 0-6 point whole game. Silsbee bench played a combined total of 54 minutes and scored 15 out of the 46 points, while Argyle bench played a combined total of 10 minutes and scored 0 points.

Silsbee's first 3 off the bench (Newton, Tyler, Jones) are so much more important to the team than any other teams first three in tourney. Heck, Jones made All Tournament.

You have been saying this and I can understand why. But it's going to be tough to be better as whole than this group.  Those three should definitely get better and you add Martin and Tyler to them for the next two years as well as a freshman that was on the Jv this year that looks like he will be pretty good and there is good base for the next two years.  However we are losing both of our posts, at least size wise, between this year and next.  Not sure who we will have to fill those two spots. But it's going to be fun to watch.

    • That’s a president? How embarrassing.
    • Really good hire! As I stated previously on this thread, Mike T has been an essential part of WB’s success the last few years & is a student of the game & I have a ton of respect for how he goes about things as a coach. Big on teaching kids how to do things the right way to prepare them for not only basketball but the game of life. He’ll be fine there, my only question is what kind of talent does WB have returning?  Best thing about this situation for Mike T is WB will be 5A for at least the next 2 years, so he should win a lot of games & have some deep playoff runs.
    • So which coaches kid gets the QB job? Trotter or Barrier
    • A Winnie land owner (and others) sued the State of Texas after they built IH-10 a few feet higher in order to help contain storm flooding. Sure enough a hurricane hit and flooded the land. The storm improvements worked!! Unfortunately the state sacrificed several people’s properties in using the interstate highway as a dam.  Richard DeVillier tried to sue Texas under our laws and Constitution and the US Constitution under the Fifth Amendment “taking clause” (eminent domain). After a favorable ruling in the federal district court on the right to sue Texas directly, the Fifth Circuit Court in New Orleans overturned that ruling and said that the DeVlier had no authority to sue Texas directly.  On Tuesday a unanimous US Supreme Court ruled that DeVillier and others had the right to sue Texas directly under Texas law and under the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution. The case is now sent back down to the lower court. DeVillier and others have not won their lawsuits as the case has not been decided on its merits at a trial. He still has to go to prove his case. What they did win was a unanimous Supreme Court agreeing that he has the right to bring Texas to trial for taking his property with just compensation.
