Yeah and Henderson jumped ahead of them in the polls.Good thing Gilmer can score points are they would have a losing record that's for sure. With that said they will likely make Jerry's World anyway.

So there is not team that can shut them down in the playoffs before State?

I would have to do more research on the teams but if Carthage couldn't slow them down I don't know who can in their region.I know they want face the likes of a WO-S defense and that's what it looks like it will take. The only thing that I can see is for someone to be able to score with Gilmer and get a few timely stops.Maybe a region 2 guru can give some insight.

Thanks for the update. I had a friend go see one of there games and her stated all the talent is on offense. He sat on Gilmer side and talked to several people and they stated that is the teams mentality. We will outscore anyone, kinda like Baylor was when they first started winning, all offense. One parent even stated the coach believes that the more points your score than defense is on there until you get the ball back on offense.

In times past I likely would've agreed with your friend that "all the talent is on offense".  I don't think that's the case, and hasn't been the last few years.  Our most talented players play many downs on both offense and on defense.  As a matter of fact, there are so many players being rotated in and out on a regular basis on both sides of the ball that it is hard to tell who the starters are for sure.

We've never been a defensive minded team, and for an old school guy like me, that has always bothered me.  We haven't had a "great" defense in the last 15 years, but we have had some danged good ones.

On the other hand, our offense is one of the best around, and has been during that same time frame.  There would NO beating us at all if we had both a shut-down defense, and this offense.

So I take from your post that the team is not a big believer in the old saying "Offense wins games but defense wins championships"

It's worked well for us 3 times. Actually 2014 when we beat WOS was one of our best defensives ever. Several of the kids played both ways as almost every year. We just usually play a lot of players. This year we seem to just not be quite as deep.
