don't know the order of district games, but I heard we may be scrimmaging Crosby, non district is WOS, Dayton, College Station.  Wondering if the College Station game will be at a neutral site?

That is TBA at this time. They are trying for neutral site and if it isn't then the game will be played in College Station next year.

Silsbee was always going to play Jasper. Never was a question on their end, before or after the altercation at basketball game.

Now on the Jasper end, well....................

........a certain number on Jasper athletic department's caller ID convinced them that Silsbee might not be that bad of an option

It would be foolish of either school to back out of playing this or any other year. I'm not condoning the violence involved with the rivalry (which has happened off and on ever since it started), but we know how both towns felt when there was a hiatus recently.

Any updates on WOS and their scheduling issues yet. Are they still having issues finding week 5 & 6 games?

What I have been told is that their Wk 6 could be firmed up as early as tomorrow, potentially Abilene Wylie

They still have no prospects for Week 5 and they are running out of options.

Belton or Waco.

As for week 5 teams are running into that issue. Brownwood is only playing 9, Stephenville played only 9 the past seasons. Only teams would be out of state (Louisiana) or Mexico more than likely.

to me there is always options, WOS may not like the options they have to make like travel to or distance. but I hope they can find a team soon

Well, my understanding is that Coach Thompson has been burning up the phones trying to find opponents for these two weeks.

If you have an option that you think he hasn't thought of, I am sure he'd love to hear it.

Nuevo Leon and Prepa Tech might be good choices. Nuevo Leon played Navasota the past two seasons and Prepa Tech has been playing some of the larger schools over the past few years. Both games would be home games. Don't know if they have expect payment like some out of state games.

I heard IMG felt the need to play a Texas Powerhouse...... maybe.....

I wish WO-S would look into Louisiana.  If they looked as far east as they looked NW to Abilene, they could go all the way to Mississippi.

Lots of similar sized schools between Orange and Baton Rouge.

I'd rather see them play a Louisiana team rather than have an open week....I am sure Coach Thompson would, too.  But remember what Ashly just posted.  Louisiana aligns in odd numbered years, Texas in even years.  So chances are that most of the Louisiana schools already have their schedules set and very few are looking for a game.

But I am sure that Coach Thompson is exploring the Louisiana option even with it's pitfalls.

Many other states are on opposite cycles of Texas.  Many in NE Texas play Louisiana teams regularly.  You have to find the ones that were previously on 1 year contracts with other teams.  You hate to get middle men and promoters involved b/c they are greedy and screw things up, but that's how many of the OOS matchups come to happen.

I hope they get those two games in.....this has been a weird set of circumstances.

You have so many teams in our area that absolutely DO NOT want to play them at all. It's not their fault they spank everyone 5a and down, in these parts.

    • Really good hire! As I stated previously on this thread, Mike T has been an essential part of WB’s success the last few years & is a student of the game & I have a ton of respect for how he goes about things as a coach. Big on teaching kids how to do things the right way to prepare them for not only basketball but the game of life. He’ll be fine there, my only question is what kind of talent does WB have returning?  Best thing about this situation for Mike T is WB will be 5A for at least the next 2 years, so he should win a lot of games & have some deep playoff runs.
    • So which coaches kid gets the QB job? Trotter or Barrier
    • A Winnie land owner (and others) sued the State of Texas after they built IH-10 a few feet higher in order to help contain storm flooding. Sure enough a hurricane hit and flooded the land. The storm improvements worked!! Unfortunately the state sacrificed several people’s properties in using the interstate highway as a dam.  Richard DeVillier tried to sue Texas under our laws and Constitution and the US Constitution under the Fifth Amendment “taking clause” (eminent domain). After a favorable ruling in the federal district court on the right to sue Texas directly, the Fifth Circuit Court in New Orleans overturned that ruling and said that the DeVlier had no authority to sue Texas directly.  On Tuesday a unanimous US Supreme Court ruled that DeVillier and others had the right to sue Texas directly under Texas law and under the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution. The case is now sent back down to the lower court. DeVillier and others have not won their lawsuits as the case has not been decided on its merits at a trial. He still has to go to prove his case. What they did win was a unanimous Supreme Court agreeing that he has the right to bring Texas to trial for taking his property with just compensation.
