I went to both of those thanksgiving showcases when Silsbee was involved. No Silsbee around town, I'm staying home.

Mustard greens, dressing, cranberry sauce, corn, sweet potato pie my my, I'm thankful.

Shadow Creek has a nice team. Guards Akin # 13, and # 3 Trejon, they both can shoot and push the ball. SC opened up a big lead and were threatening to run away with it. Other guards for concordia started hitting 3s and made it a game. Hellums had an off game. If he shot a better percentage they would of won, but he didn't. I don't know the other teams in 5A but SC has to be a contender to win it all.

JY played at Episcopal HS that Saturday, last Saturday. Nothing happened. Ep won the game. The people at Ep didn't care or they didn't know. I'm thinking they didn't know. The people at Houston Christian HS knew, which is where the pre thanksgiving showcase was held. They shut that JY vs Morton Ranch game down. Ticket price was $12.00. That matchup was the one I really wanted to see. If I had known the game wasn't going to be played I probably would have gone home. That Spring Woods vs Dickinson was a good game. SW has a good team. Their star player is as advertised. Dickinson is good, very athletic.

I'm not sure how it fits in a time line, but a student at Lamar high school was shot and killed near that campus. He was walking home, a car drove up and they shot him. Supposedly they got out the car,, stood over the victim and shot him again three or four times. The connection to Yates? The student had transferred to Lamar from Yates. I guess to get away from a rival gang. I guess the ball player for yates is being threatened by the perpetrators.

They played and won over BU in that opening showcase on the 10th. JY had a game against Madison on their home court on a Tuesday. I briefly thought about going to that game. That was a long work day and I decided to go home. It was sort of cold and earlier that day I saw one , maybe two snowflakes in the air. When I saw the game was cancelled I figured it was because of the weather.

The Yates vs Morton Ranch game has been cancelled. The talk in the stands is schools are afraid to play JY because of recent gang activity that happened at another school. That's an ugly rumor and it is probably not true. Still, that game has been cancelled for some reason.

If Silsbee is going to beat Wagner this is the year to do it, if they ever play a game. Wagner lost a lot to graduation. They are depleted. Maybe they got some players still on the football team. If that's not the case this is just a rebuilding year for them.

Concordia is scrappy. Shadow Creek has a nice team. Everybody was hitting 3s for CL except Hellums.

Notwithstanding the nationalist spirit that is growing in the land, I think Silsbee ISD should pursue an international students program. With such a program SISD could share the academic largesse of our faculty and facilities with the young minds of students from various parts of the globe. If said student just so happens to have dunking and rebounding skills so much the better. It is worthy goal that these students be balanced in the areas of mind, spirit and body. Somebody in Silsbee get on this. Make it happen.

Good observation. I love Dev, Jordyn, and all the other good players past & present, but if Silsbee had Bush, playing his game, they would have beaten Lincoln in that championship game. He was in the 8th grade then. Bush started last season shooting luke warm, and the team started slow. Bray was red hot when they played Yates in the regional final and stayed hot during the state championship tournament and the rest is history.

Coach Sigler & the team doing the same thing they did last season & the season before, getting battle tested for the 4A playoffs. Hoops, myself & others have said it over and over this is a nice era for Silsbee but they and not a truly transcendent team, like Yates in '10, and some of those PA Lincoln teams back in the day. Those teams would take on anybody, regardless of class & size and smash. Win state in 4A again and nobody will care about this game. Yates, D Carter, Lincoln, Wilmer Hutchins, Arglye, one of those Waco teams, & maybe one of two 4A sleeper teams I don't know about, that's who you gotta beat. Running the table in the 409 that's just pride.

PA b ball has been down up until last year.

Silsbee started slow last season. Everybody is or was in a euphoric stupor from winning back to back 4A titles. This was a nice wake up call. They will be aiight. As has been said they got a really big target on their backs. They had one last year so they have experience dealing with that. Get the football players back. Gel as a team. Get hot just before the playoffs. It's going to be a good season, maybe even very special.

Silsbee faced that 6'9" post from Pasadena when they scrimmaged against UT in Austin. Is the guy for CL better? PAM is not 4A so this game is just 409 bragging rights.

Morton Ranch, North Shore, Klein Forest & Sam Houston seem to be the top 6A schools in the greater Houston area, not necessarily in that order. There could be a sleeper team on two that I don't know about.

Silsbee lost to Concordia by 7 or 8 at the thanksgiving showcase at Houston Christian's gym last year. Hellums and others on that team show lights out from three. I think that was on Jay Adams mind when he hit all those shots in the fall game.

The refs weren't calling fouls. They were just blowing their whistles. That was an off season game. I think Silsbee could handle Concordia in a regular season game though.

Considering this was the first game for this high school, BU, for this team, for this program that is a respectable final score. They will get better.
