1. I will say that this unit is unbelievable. 9 goose eggs in 13 outings? WOW! I'll be at Turner (although I've witnessed some tough moments in that venue) pulling on the 'Stangs. It's anybody's game. Whichever team makes the least mistakes will win. Not only does this include turnovers but penalties, missed blocks, missed tackles, blown assignments, etc. People on here always hating on the Mustang fans about living in the past, but you know what....it's nice to know that there is a legacy and a heritage that is unparalleled in this area. Go 'Stangs!
2.
Well finaly caught up to page 17.WO-S defense will have to come through one more time and keep the score low.We will not win in a shoot out with the rattlers imo.If we give up big plays early and are down by a couple of scores it will be hard to keep our focus.Seen us go into big games before riding on our defense and that hasn't turned out to well for us in the past. But I'm still optimistic because this years defense is by far the best I have seen at WO-S.
Let's not get carried away.......there are some 4A and 5A defenses that might diasgree......... ;)
3. Hold on now....if I heard Harold Mann correctly, they did make a big call that went Nederland's way on the TD that was called back.  ;) Great job Dogs!! That's why the play the game.... Hope WOS can take down a #1 too.
4. I'm not willing to compromise a child's safety for your $175 worth. My phone hasn't rang....
5.   Dawgs of Blue....we waited as long as we could hoping the game would be played. Sorry it didn't work out. There was major lightening here and a late start wasn't an option as we have a full slate of games. If it makes you feel any better we cancelled the game after yours also as it was non conference. If You want to discuss it further feel free to give me a call. Rick Dearing BC President 670-8140 8 Year STJFL Board Member Looks like you have a great team good luck the rest of the season.
6. We play Jasper next week. Ended up scheduling Anahuac....thanks Panthers!
7. Due to Buna not having a freshman team BC needs a game. THIRD opponent this year. N ewton and Kelly are the others......
8.
Is Coldspring a one dimensional team? Is Coldspring a one dimensional team as some posters have suggested? You will find 13 teams within the state that will object to that. Most of them got a dose of Gilbert up the middle, Gilbert left, Gilbert right, Gilbert pass route, and then you have Monroe up the middle, Monroe left, Monroe right, and Monroe in pass route, then you add Scott bootleg, Scott pitch to Gilbert on option right and then Scott pitch to Monroe option right and on and on. Now that appears to be enough to keep any defense off guard. You just have to pick which one it’s going to be. Then you really confuse things when Scott throws the ball, he has 801 yards passing and 7 TDs, not a lot but it gives the defense something to think about. Between Gilbert and Monroe they have rushed for 3131 yards, and scored 44 touchdowns. That is a long way from being “one dimensional”.
"One dimensional" as in they don't throw so clearly if you can force them to have to throw, then your chances are better.....not "one dimensional" as in one weapon. I'm well aware they have multiple weapons. Even in your post you only referenced 2 pass plays, Gibert and Monroe on pass routes..... Where I come from, that's called "one dimensional".....albeit very lethal.....
9. I've seen both of them and this should be an excellent game. Even with a 2k yard rusher in Gilbert, I have to give the edge to WOS offensively due to their versatility. Coldspring is one dimensional, you stop the run (not easy) you shut them down. WOS can hurt you either way. On the other hand, I have to give the edge to Coldspring defensively. Extremely athletic in the front 7 and secondary plays great also. They simply don't give up the big play and WOS relies on it. They also "ball-hawk" and this could cause problems for the Mustangs since the TO bug seems to bite them. Special teams edge goes to WOS. The Trojans field goal kicking is a crapshoot and WOS return game is excellent. Should be a great ballgame.... I know it's a cliche but the team that makes the fewest mistakes will win this ballgame. That being said....... Mighty Mustangs....Go, Fight, Win!!!!!!
10. PN used an inelligible player, end of story! The President was notified during the 1st game (a 14-4 blowout in favor of BC) that a mistake had been made and he was certified incorrectly. They chose to continue to let him play and unfortunately, for Vidor, Port Arthur and Nederland, he helped eliminate them. If BC was scared of this kid, then why would they not have called the other leagues and notified them of the issue? Ridiculous. They were then given the option of playing the game without the kid on Wednesday night and they refused. In fact, they were told before the game that if he showed up, he would not be allowed to play yet he showed up anyway and PNLL refused to take him off of the roster. PNLL allowed a kid to play in Jr. ball (13 and 14) and make allstars in the Major division, which very clearly is a violation of the rules. MoFo quoted it earlier. As far as BC not having their ace available...he never toed the rubber against PN the first time so there goes that theory. I feel bad for the PNLL kids because they are having to suffer for adult mistakes.
11. I have to agree that 4th and 6 was a little much on that wet field. OF had the chance to pin the Cards back inside their own 5 yard line with only 4 mins left in the game. This would have forced BC to throw the ball and then you're talking possible safety and/or incomplete passes to stop the clock. They could possibly have gotten it back?? That one is debatable, but.....what I don't understand is why you successfully go for 2 on your first two conversion attempts and make it easily but on the third TD, you kick the PAT. Maybe he thought the game was over because I have to admit, I didn't like Big Red's chances at that point. This too could go either way but.....what I really can't understand is not running a QB sneak with the ball at the 3 inch line. I think if they sneak it, they score and win the game. Then again, that's why he coaches vocationally and I'm a wanna be. LOL! Congrats to "The Pride" on a great season and congrats to Big Red on an incredible effort!
12. Gas-it's probably futile. Coach T is one of the greatest defensive minds the state of Texas has ever known and anyone that can think reasonably and objectively would support that statement. His results speak for themselves. He may not have "won any titles" lately; however, when you look at his body of work, there is no argument. But the funny thing is, that doesn't even scratch the surface of what Cornel Thompson stands for. The impact he's made on young men's lives are too numerous to count. The character that he has molded in so many athletes is phenomenal and the mental toughness that he has imparted into generations of Mustang football players is incredible. He may or may not be the best DC in Southeast Texas depending on who you ask but there is no doubt that he is a coaching icon and an incredible man, leader and mentor.
13. I completely understand your point and believe me I sympathize with those that weren't allowed to participate. We need to keep in mind that the Beaumont group is new to the STJFL so there are going to be some hurdles, growing pains and downright mistakes made by both parties. Many hours went into the planning and integration of the WBB football league into the STJFL and I'm sure there were some things that were missed; however, the important thing is for everyone involved to learn from them so that they're not repeated. I can absolutely unequivocally tell you that the STJFL's intention is to allow as many kids to participate as possible. Sometimes there are rules and policies that restrict player participation; however, it's never with a malicious intent to exclude anyone. I find it extremely beneficial that these youth leagues exists (STJFL, LJF) and although neither are perfect, both try as hard as they can to provide a place for young kids to play football and cheer. My hats off to all of the people that originally put them together and to those that work so hard to make sure they are successful.
14. Mom, it is unfortunate that there are children that weren't allowed to partipate in the STJFL; however, the by-laws do address this circumstance. Participants have to play in the district in which they attend school. If kids attend school in a district that doesn't belong to the STJFL, they are not allowed to participate. That's the beauty of having two leagues. The LJF league has teams in most areas that do not participate in STJFL; therefore, I think there is an alternative. If you would like to put a group together and petition the STJFL to form a new association, please feel free to do so between January-March. Southeast Texas Junior Football League, Inc. Constitution & By-Laws ARTICLE XII: CERTIFICATION OF PARTICIPANTS SECTION 4. All participants will be certified according to the school in which they attend. In the case where a school district has more than one elementary or junior high, the STJFL board will make a determination as to how the association will have to split the participants in their association. The board will consider size of community, locations of schools, school boundaries, etc. while making its determination. Any child that is home or private schooled must be certified in the district they live in. No child will be allowed to play outside of their school district without a waiver from the STJFL Board. The STJFL Board will consider any exceptions or special considerations.
