The Icon got a reaction from BMTSoulja1 in WB vs PA Memorial football
Would be nice to see PA, Mid County schools and both Beaumont schools all have each other on the schedule. Would make for some packed stadiums and good “atmosphere”.

The Icon got a reaction from Alpha Wolf in GREG NEECE NAMED ANAHUAC HEAD COACH
They also have way better facilities than almost any program in SETX regardless of classification and pay scale is closer to that of Houston than the Golden Triangle. Much easier to recruit coaches to come work for you when that’s the case.
Having good relationships with those guys is the cherry on top.

It could be a really good job of the admin would give the kids and coaches what they need to compete. Seems to be in a constant state of flux and inconsistency.
I said before that place could be special given the right circumstances

If Nederland keeps kicking this can down the road, the price tag is only going to get higher...10 years ago, it would have cost $126 million to pretty much have ALL new schools...now, $156 million for one school replacement and fixes to the some of the others...this has to be done sooner or later...later just means way more $$...I hate spending money as much as the next guy, but the reality is that you are already spending large sums of money on maintenance of old, dilapidated buildings that are 70 and 80 years old in many cases...I would rather spend my money on something new and up to date than maintaining something 80 years old that doesn't meet the needs of today's education system

I can’t and will not understand not supporting the youth of a community. Sounds like the bond heavily supports CATE/STEM programs. Obviously, the improvements to the stadium benefits football, but is also helps boys and girls soccer, marching band, drill dream, cheerleaders, track meets for multiple levels, etc.

The Icon got a reaction from 2wedge in Anahuac Open?
Perhaps it sounds like the term describing a daughter of one's brother or sister, or of one's brother-in-law or sister-in-law? Who just so happens to coach at Fig ______?

Good for Kountze then
1 of those 50 poor souls will have their work cut out for them and not have the jack to call the shots due to not being the AD

The Icon reacted to oldschool2 in TODD PAINE NAMED NEW HC AT KOUNTZE
Not good for Kountze the way you would think. I don't know who all applied.. NONE OF US DO (hint hint ;)).. but I have some buddies that have some buddies and heard that there were some decent applicants. But.. I also heard it may end up being a homer. So in typical fashion... Kountze is gonna do what Kountze does when it comes to the football program. Not care.

Lol. Seriously? May or may not work with his brother at a school that rhymes with Casper. Go to the first page of this thread and read through the comments.

The Icon reacted to WOSgrad in Nederland Bond PASSES!!!!
Look, I am pretty dog gone conservative my self and yeah, the $156,000,000 does provide a bit of sticker shock.
But looking again at the list provided by Mr. Mosley leads me to my first question: Is there anything on the list provided that would constitute an unnecessary expense? For purposes of this question, I have provided the list below:
New High School ($82.7M)
Includes but not limited to the following:
*Built at same location
*Focus on advancing CTE program needs
*Designed learning environment based upon program
capacity and modern teaching practices to strengthen
and expand the academic experience
*Performing Arts Center will remain in current location
Elementary School New Learning Areas and Improvements ($49.1M)
Includes but not limited to the following:
*Additional classrooms including flexible learning &
teaching spaces
*5th grade expansion
*Improved drop off/pick-up and parking
*Additional & improved restrooms
*Expanded and improved cafeteria & gym
*Additional program space for occupational and
physical therapy
Middle School Improvements ($11.1M)
Includes but not limited to the following:
*Improved classrooms including flexible learning &
teaching spaces
*Improved drop off/pick-up and parking
*Additional & improved restrooms
Technology Initiative ($4.8M)
Includes but not limited to the following:
*Fiber optics
*Infrastructure
*1:1 devices
Safety & Security ($3.4M)
Includes but not limited to the following:
*District wide improvements limiting physical access to
campuses
*Additional cameras
*Safety vestibules
Stadium Upgrades ($4.5M) - SEPARATE PROPOSITION
Includes but not limited to the following:
*Field turf
*Improved restrooms
*Improved press-box
*Modified seating
*ADA required updates
Further, my second question is: If this bond is indeed rejected, does anybody really expect that the price tag for these items is going to decrease?
Now admittedly, I am an outsider that has relied on stories from folks within. However, it appears to me that a large part of this price tag is the price for the board, and quite frankly, the citizens of Nederland ISD kicking the can down the road.
Do it again, and the price tag will only be steeper.
