PAM has underperformed the last 2 seasons, no doubt about it.
I think they'll play with a new found confidence because of the move down to 5A. However, that confidence may be misplaced. Remains to be seen.
 
Livingston was picked to finish last in their 4A District
The only school that could give Baytown Lee a good game is Houston Scarborough
Vidor is bad
Ozen will be reeling from losing Boyd to graduation and Tyler to transfer 
Lumberton lost their entire offense
PNG lost their offensive and defensive leaders (Morse, Rembert) among other major contributors.
Central lost Whaley and Derry, also the whole OL if I'm not mistaken
Nederland lost their QB, Krautz and some major offensive lineman.
 
There are only 4 teams with a shot of being district champs, same 4 teams will make the playoffs. It be between PNG and Central for D2 seeding, Nederland and PAM for D1 seeding.

You and I see eye to eye on many things. On the issue of Vidor, I'll have to agree to disagree.

If you watch HS Extra, they break it down by regions: Greater Houston, DFW Metro, CenTex, Golden Triangle... etc. I consider Crosby to be more Greater Houston than SETX. However, if you put me on a map and asked me the relative location of Crosby, I suppose I would say Southeast.
Ned vs WO-S will be a one sided whoopin, at least PN-G and Silsbee will be competitive. Both PN-G and Silsbee are replacing guys, while WO-S is rolling in with, I believe, 20 returning starters.

I understand what you're saying. But most Texas High School football jobs average around 100 applicants. So call it maybe half this late...so 50 for this job. And they got 17... Again, there are 3A schools who pay their head coach in the 50's/60's who get 100 applicants. Most coaches would do anything for a shot at a head coaching job. It's very difficult to get your first one.  I'd think there are more than 17 in a 20 mile radius of Ozen who want to be a head coach and wouldn't even have to move their families.

If BISD Central Admin wasn't a damn flying circus and gave head coaches what they needed to succeed, this could be a good job.

17 applicants?? I know it's late, but if that's true it's embarrassing for BISD. There are 3A schools with more applicants than that at this point in the summer.

i find it hilarious that every time there's a head coach opening, you'll find Daryl Hobbs name on it

Why is this position still open? Not good for the program. Not good for football in 2016.

Experience is overrated...Hire someone who has great work ethic. Too many of these coaches come in and don't spend anytime with their 9th grade teams...You must build for the future...

Man. We have a train horn too but I understand why everyone hates on the L-Train. That Son-of-a-Gun is Loud and even when we had a huge lead against you guys in New Caney last year that dang horn just kept on coming. We honk our horn when we do something good. I think y'alls horn is operated by a foreign exchange student from Iceland with ADHD that's never seen a football game before. Put me down in the anti-L-Train column!!!

Hint, nobody likes Crosby because they good, nobody likes BH because they are snooty  (not really, but I guess some might be), PNG don't like Nederland and vice versa (Mid County thing) , Nobody likes Vidor because they think everyone is a rival, nobody like Lumberton because they have a train horn and blew up the site for two years with L-Train, nobody likes PAM because Xbox is playing daddy ball and should be making deep playoff runs, nobody likes Ozen because they can't keep a coach, nobody likes Central because they struggle with mid county teams and have bad luck, nobody likes WOS because nobody seems be able to beat them in the viewing area, nobody likes Dayton because they have 22-5a's number even in down year's  and Coach Stewart was the Messiah,  nobody likes Livingston because they have annoying announcer, nobody likes Hardin Jefferson because they only care about basketball, nobody cares about Silsbee because they and Hardin Jefferson have a love hate relationship,  and finally, nobody likes each other because they're homers, and take pride in their teams and hardly ever admit when they're wrong. Lol
