  1. Changing QB's ain't gonna help either. The play calling in terms of who receives the ball is a hot mess! The same scenario(WR choice) is brewing from last year and it'll be worse this time.
  2. After observing Nederland's play-calling and preference of who receives the thrown balls, the Bulldogs are in for a long season if the mindset of the offensive play caller don't get real. He better figure out if last years scenario...in terms of WR play...will bring victories. There's a hot mess brewing and it ain't gonna cool down without common sense and fairness.
  3. Stattrax, my ploy wasn't about Nederland's defense or one wide receiver from the past who was great going up and plucking a ball out of the air.......to credit the QB. Or, it wasn't about PNG winning the game. Or about how the QB didn't play his butt off. It was simply about personal team attitudes that you have no idea about.
  4. Indianforever, you mentioned, "Very surprised on Nederlands lack of a pass threat...could make it difficult in playoffs being one dimensional on offense." Well, I wasn't surprised. If anyone views the past footages of Nederland's offense, they could easily see that the passing attack is not dynamic. Wow! A Defensive Coach can easily prepare his secondary for the norm. And in the playoffs that will happen. Trick plays will get you a smidgen of an advantage in the playoffs but not to win the game. Ten & 15-yard routes are a mainstay with Nederland. If you have a speedster WR that can be consistently sent in motion....like Pittsburg's Antonio Brown(AB), then why not utilize the WR for the sole purpose of getting him the ball and also for deceptive purposes in getting the ball to others. PNG's defensive backs were soooooo happy they weren't challenged! To say the least, the QB has to be willing to bomb the ball to the speedy WR. Why? So the QB can look powerful and the WR can look powerful. A bomb can change the perspective of the game. It produces first downs, interferences, TD's and "fear" at the DB position. But also, the QB had to have been in sync with throwing the bomb during the whole season to make it work too. It ain't never too late, though. {1,2,3....let it fly!!!}. I'm sure the head coach will scheme a plan to make a ride to the state game. The AREA super bowl is over. Now, let's see if humble or true corrections can be made for the good of the team. And if one individual has the coat tail that ALL can ride on then ALL can get the credit. I've witnessed, in person, 4 state championship teams. I know what I know. I've seen Nederland. They have a state team but certain humble beginnings must happen and certain behaviors must change. If I were a gambling man, I would have made a bunch of money on MCM. Again, the QB is the key. Throwing 2 picks in MCM?!! The QB's IQ MUST get better. There's no room for envy, self or lack of knowledge. Two-a-days ain't in November! Remember, armchair QB's, scouts and recruiters are smart!
  5. Everybody talking like they ain't never witnessed high school football before. MCM will boil down to how well the QB's execute their coach's playcalling. Which QB will decide to improvise [at the right moment] when defenses decide to clamp down? Of course, turnovers, special teams play and trick plays will always play a significant part. Lastly, let's see which QB will hit the correct open receiver when the game is on the line.
  6. Broncos! All this talk about indoor facilities, mud, homecoming and et cetera. Have confidence in "YA" team no matter what the conditions. Just get the TIDE, BLEACH, GAIN or whatever and get ready to stop....in the slop...."DAT" BLACK AND GOLD TRAIN RUNNING GAME!!!
  7. As an added attraction to Big Ned's running game, the big play pass will be present. The 6 weeks grading period comes into play. That's part UIL sports. "Consider everything when considering everything." Big Ned don't need no big play pass receiver(s).....only a stiff defense when it counts. By the way, Big Ned has smooth receivers. Sic 'em Dogs! 24-7
  8. Nederland's running game will be on, again. Simple!
  9. Santa Fe will have to mentally overcome the Bulldog Stadium atmosphere real quick! Bulldog Stadium ain't no bond-filled, peacock-showcased venue! Grassy meadows with stripes and dungeon-like traps layered with a old crown only the #10 ranked 5A DII Bulldogs know about. I got "DEM" DOGS by 4 td's....maybe 5. The Bulldog Defense will have a slow start and pick up the tempo to knock out the Indians. Oh, and beware of turnovers. As I stated in the Silsbee game, the run game should be outstanding. Slant routes and bombs by the offense should prevail, too. #playcallerinyourplaybook
  10. Dog gone! Quarterback changes?! My prediction of a mass running game would have come true but since I ain't coaching, it didn't. Based on what I witnessed...a slippery field, speed and a wet ball...the running game was prevalent all night. Patience is a virtue! "Ya" "gotta" want to run 'em in the ground in those conditions and then hit 'em with the air attack later(when conditions are conducive). The game conditions didn't lie. Bottom line : conditions and how to deal with it almost cost the Bulldogs a victory.
  11. Bulldogs 35--- Silsbee 7 (The running game will be on cruise control.)
  12. The Bulldogs have a good chance of going very far in the playoffs. The key to getting to that magic 4th round('cause anything can happen in the 5th round) will be how well the starting QB can power the ball down field. The "O Line" is the key along with the QB's ability to be able to "time" the ball, AT THE RIGHT MOMENT, to the Bulldogs' deep threat receiver. I've watched the Bulldogs this season and one thing that's missing is the long ball. In the past, WR Conner Perkins was the long ball receiver. But the QB that year was confident with his ability to "time" the ball to Perkins. The Bulldogs have one in number eight. He looks like a little AB of the Pittsburg Steelers. Once the QB feels comfortable with his ability to "time" the ball to number eight, then look out! The backup QB does have the ability to fire the ball with more zip. And, his timing is more efficient than the starting QB. Both QB's are well adapted in their own way. One thing for sure, the coaches have to recognize that the starting QB's lack of confidence to "time" the ball to its deep threat receiver and/or his choice to "hit" the comfortable 10 and 15 yard plays will eventually be sifted out by a good defensive coordinator. There's a window open all the time and the starting QB and backup QB must be able to learn or recognize that window and release the ball. That comes with more practice and wanting to be able to improve more on their quarterbacking skills that lack success. Bottom line, this Nederland team can be special. And with a little luck, a state championship may evolve. Oh, the possibilities.
