  1. I truly wish I could prove you all wrong but let’s kill this one right here. I will no longer post on this message board. For the sake of the person involved, I apologize to him for creating this madness somehow. I never said I was you yet somehow I’m being connected to you and these people are insisting that it’s you. My apologies, brother. I’m off of here for good. Again, I apologize for the confusion.
  2. You’re wrong. Dead wrong, and I have no idea why you insist that I’m him, but ok. Carry on. Please do not pull Walt into this. I assure you he has no clue what’s going on here.
  3. I am a school administrator locally and won’t divulge who, what, or why, but he (Yates) and I are close. I will leave it at that. This is not Walter Yates. I understand the urge to poke at him because you think I am him but I assure you I’m not. He’s a good guy that can actually coach, but had some tough growing pains early on in this coaching business. I think he is better suited as a college coach, but he’s changed quite a bit over the years. I take up for a lot of people on here in case you didn’t notice. lol
  4. Joe Sigler ABSOLUTELY belongs in that top tier of coaches listed. MASSIVE oversight there.
  5. Are you guys seriously not mentioning Coach Boutte ON PURPOSE? LOL
  6. So have you heard of a Coach by the name of Andre Boutte? Has more state titles than anyone on your list and TWICE as many state tournament appearances than many on your list of "best SETX has to offer". And to criticize Joubert by saying all he wins with is talent, is quite possibly the dumbest statement on this thread. I think you should re-think your statement.
  7. There are about 5 GREAT coaches in SE Texas, a few really good ones, and the rest are just guys wearing a whistle. Guys like Green, Sutherland, Boutte, English, and Sigler are proven in this area. Davis and Joubert have done a really good job of maintaining good programs over the years, and Mitchell is up and coming and had better ride last season out into a better job, or he will be a lifer there. Other than THAT? I'm not so certain about beyond those that I mentioned. SE Texas is not as basketball coach rich as one would think.
  8. Do I think he should apply? I'm not sure what he wants to do at this point. I can certainly find out, though. Last I heard, he was exploring going back to the college ranks.
  9. Are the numbers for 4A to LOW in your opinion?
  10. I don't really understand this thread. Are you guys accusing Argyle of being too large for their classification, thus the reason for recent success? I am just trying to understand with all the underlying sarcasm and all, that can also be disguised as hate, (especially with the Houston Yates reference) but maybe I'm missing the point of the thread. Please help.
  11. What the heck are you talking about? I spoke with TWO of the guys that interviewed THAT week is how I knew. I guess my question is, why are you still on this a week later? I'm done with the discussion, and the decision was made, for whatever the reason. Doesn't matter that much to me to discuss it or for that matter prove to you who I am or am NOT for whatever reason, 2Wedge. If that's your REAL name. See how dumb that sounds? No one is revealing their actual names on here, whether it be for privacy purposes or job related purposes, so you can accuse me of being who you want, i am not moved. Who exactly are you, and why are you so stuck on this particular topic? Brother.
  12. I can see that logic, but it was not my intention to criticize the coach.
  13. I never criticized the COACH, I thought the reason for the hire was football driven. That's all. I could be wrong, but that was my thought based on conversation about the hire. I repeat, I could be wrong, however. Had one of the other guys had been hired, it would have been more expected. They could have been criticized too, but I certainly had nothing bad to say about the candidate that got the job.
  14. I have no clue where you are going with this post, but there is no "hate" involved, merely an opinion, which is what everyone has that posts on here from time to time. I knew a couple of the candidates for that job, as well as a few former parents of HF kids, and we have had conversations about it. I hope that the new coach does a good job, I just heard he was football guy that only coached middle school basketball before this. I could be wrong but it is what was said. I will never bash a coach, because he deserves a chance like anyone else to prove who he is as a coach without bias. I thought it may have been a football hire, but again, I could be mistaken. I have no dog in the fight, and the hire is completed, and I wish him well. Now we move on to the next topic. Isn't that how this is supposed to go?
  15. Not sure exactly, but this is 100% a football hire based off the info that I have received. That guy did NOT want the basketball program to win the way they have, because it makes the football program look that much worse. The AD brought in basketball guys with the help of a committee, but pushed a football guy that was found late. Shame for those HF kids, but this is a fact.
  16. Yes. You have TWO pure basketball guys with head coaching experience, and you hire an assistant from Crosby with no head coaching experience? Its clear what they were after. A football guy.
  17. That hire is the sign of a football coach and AD that does NOT want the basketball program to prosper.
  18. Hamshire Fannett's best player not able to play varsity last season, correct? Would he have not made somewhat of a difference in that game? I don't know that this job is tailor made for a young coach at this juncture, as previously thought. A young coach could do well here, but its a lot of moving parts going on in HF right now, and a new coach will have to somehow hold all of this together which could be challenging on an inexperienced guy. Gotta figure out how to get and keep their kids at HF first and foremost, then compete with experienced wining programs like HJ and Silsbee in the playoffs. Williams has been there, and so has Yates. I hear Savaet has decided not to interview for this one, but that has not been confirmed.
  19. Ok, I get it. You are aware that Yates and Williams were also Ozen assistants under Boutte, when Rideaux was a player there, before becoming head coaches right? They have VERY similar approaches and have all been effective as head coaches. They did interviews with those guys today, so I guess it won't be long now.
  20. Ok, that's fair enough, but what does "fit the makeup of the school and players" mean, exactly? Just curious.
  21. See, these message boards are designed for cowards to come on here and talk about things they really don’t know and make it public without the repercussions of actually facing that person. And that’s ok, because after all, it’s a part of it, right? What if people could go back in YOUR life and profession and discuss any and everything that they THINK has happened without really KNOWING the facts and tried to make it into a negative light as you were trying to move forward in your career? That would suck, right? Each of these guys have all dealt with different issues during their careers, and the mere fact that these people are still sought after speaks volumes about who they are today as coaches and as people. I think that when guys come on here and say things that are not true or attempt to demean someone in a sarcastic manner, their real name should be revealed. It’s only fair, right? My point is I know these three guys to be excellent coaches and in turn are actually excellent PEOPLE. Your opinions are one thing, but to attempt to dig up their past as if that’s really going to affect their ability to lead now is just crazy. Kind of makes me wonder if you wish you had the opportunity that they are being afforded and maybe that’s your axe to grind. Have you MET either of them? Try that. Talk to them and see if that won’t change your strong opinion of what they have been through in their careers. Just a suggestion. Good luck to each of them, going forward in their careers.
