  1. @CC1987 A lot can change in three months, huh? lol
  2. So your argument is your son played D3 and another son walked on at UIW because their high school coaches didn't do enough to promote them? I swear, some of you guys clearly don't understand how special a talent has to be to sign a D1 scholarship for football.
  3. If I was Coach Willis, I'd tell this guy to pound sand, screen shot all these DA posts from this site, and tell him to take it up with the UIL.
  4. It's hard for me to believe that someone looks at the WH football program and thinks, "that's where I need to go to build my name". Taylor did as good with them as anybody could, and his upward progression was Colmesneil.
  5. I am shocked they got someone from the outside to come in and take this job. I felt for sure this would be an inside hire.
  6. So, on June 21st, there is still no football coach at WH? Considering the fact the program just recently rejoined UIL after playing an outlaw schedule for a few years and they struggle with having enough players every single year, this may be the death nail in the program. Sad times.
  7. Ummm, what you just explained about the NC QB is a violation of UIL rules and could cause NC to have to forfeit those wins if it can be confirmed. I hate to break it to you, but "believing in yourself" only gets you so far. Learning how to fight through adversity, compete no matter the circumstances, and adapt to a changing environment is what will help the kid actually succeed in life beyond football. I know the kid your talking about, and he's not D1 material and certainly not pro material. So what has his dad really gained him by teaching him to run away from adversity and take the path of least resistance?
  8. That's what I'm talking about! There is a reason this guy wins....Other coaches should take notice.
  9. What year was Jake Askew?
  10. Huffman should be on the way up in the next few years. The incoming Sophomore class, 9 of which contributed to the varsity squad last year as Freshmen, is the one to watch. Coaching is still a question mark in Huffman, especially with the likes of Peevey, Reyes and Dubois on opposing sideliens, but the potential is there. Should be a great district to watch in the next few years.
  11. You are also savvy enough to know he was a standout player as a Freshman, with the potential to develop into a great player. That is all anyone is saying here. Any illusions that he is the next coming of Matthew Stafford are exaggerations being made by those who clearly are rooting for the kid to fail (not referring to you). Kinda pathetic if you ask me.
  12. Now you are just talking out of your arse. If you watched Anahuac at all last year, you would've seen a noticeable uptick in passing attempts to the year prior. Neece clearly retooled his offense to build it around the QB and the athletes at his disposal. Try not to let your nephew's disappointment cause the truth to be blurred.
  13. I am sure as badly as the dad wants to coach the son, the son wants to be coached by his dad. If the story about the icy reception is true, coupled with Barrow talking like the son was the primary reason for pursuing the dad, I am not surprised they decided to go elsewhere. Honestly, I would've preferred they just stayed in Anahuac to see what they could've done there. I think that team was primed to make some deep runs the next two years. I hope wherever they end up works out for them.
  14. Liberty should have standing reservations in Austin by this point.
  15. Sounds like an opportunity to bring Dylan Varnon back.
  16. Is there a chance of them staying in Anahuac? Seems odd that their potential leaving is being so publicly discussed if he had an avenue back.
  17. Keep your eyes on Luke Smith from Crosby at UMHB. He's the kind of guy who will go there and thrive in that offensive system, as well as compete for national championships each year. That program is one of the best in the nation and the facilities are second to none for that level of NCAA. This is a much better landing spot for Luke, even without a scholarship, than getting a scholly to some directional school in Oklahoma.
  18. Interesting. Don't know much about the guy. Seems to be a nomad with a somewhat troublesome Facebook news feed if I were a parent of a kid in that program. We shall see I guess.
  19. What's going to happen here? I know they were teetering on the verge of eliminating the football program all together a couple of years ago. Does Taylor leaving this late put that consideration back on the table? Especially with the Superintendent retiring and presumably not really putting a ton of effort into hiring the next coach?
  20. Care to share? I could use a good laugh this morning! lol
  21. The main problem is, many parents can't see that their kid is not college football material and they are dumbfounded when their child doesn't get a scholarship. It's not always a "lack of promotion by coaches" issue, it's a "my kid isn't good enough" problem.
