I do not know Ware, so I am not personally involved in this at all, but I think you guys are making a major mistake going this route. He has brought this program back from the trash heap it had been for many years prior to last. His only mistake was being a year or so ahead of schedule by winning last year and causing the fan base to expect immediate improvement from that new bar. He hasn't only invested in football, but has been adamant about program growth at every level. From AV, to culture, to expectations, and now he is becoming a victim of those same expectations. All I will say is, be careful what you wish for, because moving him along right in the middle of the ascent of this program could waste every bit of talent you all say is not being utilized properly.

I'd gladly come pick him up and move him down the road if he wanted to make a change. Trust me, the grass ain't always greener.

It's the process of learning how to win and be a winner. They'll get it, but it'll take some time for the cut throat culture to settle into a program that has become accustomed to getting their teeth kicked in.

Probably should've signed that NIL deal with Dayton in the offseason.

I guess I should temper what I said, I can also see a path where what you've said above becomes true, and I certainly hope you are more right than me. I do take exception to one thing you've said though: I believe the Needville/Navasota/Columbus stretch Huffman is about to have won't be nearly as tough as the Lumberton/Vidor/LCM stretch that will happen to close out the district season considering that two of those three are on the road, and those three opponents outscored Huffman 145-57 last year. It also bears mentioning that the three coaches Huffman will be facing those weeks are named Reyes, Dubois and Peevey.

A lot to a little. There can be brighter days ahead for the Falcons, but I do not think this will be the year for those. They begin next year when this Sophomore group becomes Juniors. The Falcons have to get the athletes walking the halls back out in pads, and there has to be a full culture shift around the program. Football tends to be an afterthought in the community and the only way to fix that is to drum up excitement about being a Falcon. It can be done, but will take lots of work to build what needs to be built in Huffman. Do you disagree with that or see something I do not see?

This will be an absolute boat race by Silsbee. I am afraid the wheels begin falling off for the Falcons this Friday, and it just gets progressively worse as the season goes on.

Awful showing by Huffman. Silsbee is next so it doesn’t get any easier. There’s too much talent on the field for it to look this bad. Something has to change.

They will be the most athletic looking team you've every seen and will have two or three D1 commits, but they will be poorly coached, poorly disciplined and have poor character on the field. Jasper will beat them but not because they out talent them.

Yes, the guy who righted the ship as it was sinking. A few alumni hires to fill out the staff at the last minute, and BAM, the new coach is a genius. I'm sure he recommended the alumni who were hired.

Seriously though, local HS sports coverage in our area will suffer due to losing your coverage. We all truly appreciate the dedication you've shown over the years and we are excited for this new opportunity for you. Hopefully the next gen is ready to step up and grab the torch. If this site has taught me one thing in the past year or so, its' this, you don't know what you've got til it's gone.
