  1. Two years ago, the Troup Tigers boys basketball team didn't win a game. Last season, they were 6-21. This time around, under the new direction of 1985 Troup alum Darin Harley, the Tigers are 24-7 and outright district 15-3A champions. [Hidden Content]
  2. Congratulations to former LCM boys basketball coach Darin Harley on a district championship. He is back at his alma mater Troup High School and in only his first year his team clinches the district championship. Great win for a good man. [Hidden Content]
  3. Per kogt website: UIL District 22-4A Executive Committee met Friday, February 10, 2017 to consider moving the venue for tonight’s boys’ basketball game between Silsbee HS and West Orange-Stark HS. A safety plan has been developed and will be implemented. Therefore, the committee voted unanimously to keep the game at West Orange-Stark as originally scheduled. Silsbee ISD and West Orange-Stark CISD were required abstentions for the single action item discussed. It is the committee’s hope that true sportsmanship will be displayed according the guidance set forth by UIL-Austin as stated below: Regardless of the outcome of tonight’s game, all of the players have proven their willingness to work and sacrifice in order to achieve athletic excellence. We ask that as a spectator, you consider the time and effort each of these teams, coaches, and athletes have put forth. Cheer these young athletes, applaud them, but do not, through any of your actions, cause them to doubt the value of athletics. By your conduct, allow these young people to feel pride in their communities and school. While your sportsmanlike actions may play only a small part in the outcome of this game, it will play a greater role in continuing to encourage competitive athletics. We also ask that you show your appreciation for the students who will be taking part indirectly in tonight’s game–the cheerleaders, the bands, the pep squad, and the students who have supported their teams at home and away. These young people play an integral part in their team’s success. The officials for this game have been mutually agreed upon by school officials for both schools. Their role is not unlike those of players, coaches, teachers, and school administrators. Without them this game would not be possible. Their knowledge and application of the rules are a result of annual testing, years of study, and continual participation in clinics that further refine their understanding of the game. We ask you, as students, parents, and citizens, to demonstrate the kind of respect for these officials you would extend to any dedicated person in a position of responsibility. This means that you as a fan: 1) Should not criticize the players on either team, 2) Should not boo the officials, 3) Should not have alcoholic beverages on public school grounds since it is a violation of state law, 4) Should be courteous to the visiting fans, 5) Should cheer for your team, and 6) Should show respect for injured players on both teams.
  4. what is the official tip off for the game tonight? i know it was said the jv game was moved to Saturday so I am just checking.
  5. beaumont enterprise reporting that for the wos silsbee game tomorrow that home and visitor fans will have separate parking, entrances, concessions and restrooms. there is only one bathroom for men and one for women in the lobby. Not sure how they plan to separate that.
  6. I put it in this thread because i noticed the lcm / silsbee thread was locked earlier today... and now the conversation regarding penalties is now discussed in this silsbee/wos thread.
  7. I have no idea who "owns" this site.... i am just a casual reader. I do not understand the frequency of "locking a thread". Don't you want traffic to your website? I have seen threads "locked" when nothing offensive or derogatory is being said. A moderator apparently decides enough has been said on a given subject and then shuts it down. can someone given insight into why you would want to limit traffic to your website?
  8. can this round of the playoffs spill over into saturday? or does the winner have to be determined by the end of the day Friday? I have heard both.
  9. actually two district champs... dont forget huffman
  10. Coaches are competitive by nature...  They love to win. How many times have we seen a "star player" get disciplined for one reason or another... But the coach find a way to have the discipline handed out NOT interfere with the "big game".  And if you ask the coaches, I would be willing to bet, MANY times coaches play a kid they don't like, simply because the kid has talent.  I will go out on a limb and say 99.99% of the time, coaches are gonna have the most talented players on the field simply because THEY WANT TO WIN.  It's in their coaching DNA.
  11. I was at the game last night ...  early in the game it very obvious the png qb was ineffective.  maybe just a bad night.  I felt bad for the kid. He played the entire game...  does png not have any other athlete that could have played qb?
