  1. Worst kept secret in SETX as many have said before. He's been denying it all year, which I don't understand. If it was to "protect" the players, they already knew and it showed by their demeanor this year. He's going "home" and getting paid more so not sure the reason for "hiding" it or avoiding what everyone already knew. Hopefully he's not making the move just to "make his best 5 years" for retirement. Knowing his track record I doubt that would be the case.
  2. Tx Bob website says it seats 12,000. PNG seats 12,471. With 9 schools in Katy ISD using that and Jack Rhodes as home stadiums, there are several games where the “visiting” team is playing on their home field. I would assume each side seats 6,000.
  3. I guess all of the “Bobcat Ball” in the off season didn’t translate to playoff success…
  4. While I agree, that sucks for both teams I can understand why they canceled. There are more important things going on right now in Jasper and Newton County than HS Football.
  5. West Hardin - Aaron Pollock (former HJ assistant)
  6. Is WOS the next La Marque? Both storied programs, but La Marque has been hit or miss for a while now. Rather then being the feared program that everyone was hoping they could avoid for as long as possible in the playoffs, now it will just depend on the year?
  7. West Orange - Stark has always been about tradition. Not just in football, but as a community and a school district. How many teachers, coaches, administrators, etc. have retired, changed districts, or left the profession in the last 10 years or so? WOS use to be a place where you could come back and still know the majority of the faculty and staff and feel like you were back home. It’s tough to continue tradition with so much change across the board. If I’m correct, WOS coaching staff has several former players coaching now, and a handful of coaches that have been there for multiple years. They see our post, they know the expectations and I have no doubt, they’re doing the best they can to keep those traditions alive. The struggles aren’t coming from a lack of effort or passion, it’s just a transition to something different with several hiccups along the way. Tradition doesn’t like change and it is very apparent by several keyboard warriors post.
  8. I think it's comical how WOS quarantined the volleyball and boys basketball teams; but didn't allow cheerleaders, drill team or band to a football game yet still played Varsity and JV football. With that being said, it looks like it came back to haunt them in the playoffs, so maybe that's why they're being so cautious this time??
  9. Hmmm... Even without the complete seasons, your "facts" are off in your own post.
  10. Rules are rules. You break them and get caught, you get the punishment given. Does that necessarily mean the rule was broken intentionally or the coaches were aware? No one will ever know. But same goes for traffic violations. How many traffic laws or “rules” have all of us broke that we weren’t aware we were breaking or didn’t realize it at the time, but if you got pulled over you still got the ticket or a warning? Bottom line is, a rule was broken and there may or may not be a punishment coming. Everyone can give their two cents, which is exactly what several people on this board love doing, just don’t get all upset if someone says something you don’t like or want to hear!
  11. Lamar host McNeese this weekend with a Thursday-Saturday series.
  12. How did he get injured? Hope he's ok, bright future ahead for that kid!
  13. Orangefield is going to host a tournament now with all of the rain outs FRIDAY: 10:00 Big Sandy v Colmesneil 12:30 Tarkington v Colmesneil 3:00 Newton v Orangefield 5:30 Tarkington v Orangefield SATURDAY: 10:00 Big Sandy v Orangefield 12:30 Bog Sandy v Newton 3:00 Colmesneil v Newton
  14. It must be tough to be a back to back state champion and have to play a "perfect" game every week to keep the "fans" happy. Bottom line, a WIN is a WIN and the Mustangs are still playing in December. I completely agree that the 2017 Mustangs don't resemble the 2016 Mustangs, but they're still finding a way to get the W week after week. Have any of you critics noticed how many of these guys are 2 way players this season compared to last? WOS does not have the depth they did in the past, but they're doing a great job with what they have! To add to that, how many of these guys were even starters last year? You guys say the play book is too watered down or they won't open it up....I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume the Mustangs did not game plan for the Sophomore to be at QB all week long, but he did a great job when he got in there. Also, looked to me in the second half like the Mustangs slowed the game down to keep things from getting messy. One player took a punch to the groin, another had his helmet ripped off and a third mustang had another player take a swing at him. I could be wrong, but it looked like the Mustangs were getting 4-5 yards every run towards the end of the game. Why would you get away from something that's working? Protect the lead and your players. Everyone wants to critique and point fingers at the coaches, but I doubt they would trade jobs with them!
  15. I'm close friends with Westbrook and he told me Coach Thompson DID contact him about going back, and appreciated the offer, but he was going to stay at Jasper.
