🎯 Exactly. We got a small taste in week 1 of 2021. And that should have been a wake up call to the staff, super, and admin. We could've accepted losing district to Silsbee, or Jasper, or HF. But not all 3. Especially if one had a clear idea of what had been working since he made his way from Hardin county. There are people in this world that are a quick study. In 6 years, what was learned?

I'm beginning to wonder if this was all part of the plan set into place long ago. Give the people what they think they want. Knowing it's a futile experiment with no traction. Then when the people are ready to revolt, make the change to meet their new demands. And take all the credit for revitalization of a program that should have never been in decline.

Politics as usual. Create a problem and make the constituents think they've elected someone who has the answers.

I really need to think of a better campaign slogan. I got it...

"Change We Can Believe In" 😉

How about “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”  Too late for that one though. Bottom line is that not everyone is built to be a HC. If you can’t convey to your players what you want them to do, then let someone who can, take the lead.

  2. It’s very discerning to see everyone downing the “education” at WOS. There have been and are still excellent teachers on the staff and kids wanting to go further in life get a great education. The problem is that WOS has a larger majority of kids who may be challenged in one way or another and the lack of discipline in the classroom than other schools in the area. The curriculum is there. The ability and desire to learn may be a challenge to some, but it is maddening for some to act like the kids at WOS aren’t being taught. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. (Especially in today’s society where everyone is offended by something).

Was T called out for Racism?

    Why not?

Maybe because he's not a racist and everybody who knows him, knows that.  The "suspect" had nothing to do with kids on the team other than they were suspected of being able to play the game or not.  That's what he meant and that's ALL he meant.  51 years of coaching all races and you want to make something nasty out of him saying suspect or prospect?

It has nothing to do with the player named.  I wasn't really wanting to get into an argument over who deserved Super Gold and who didn't because I know that it is a tough job to decide between the number of schools that we have.  I just know that WOS didn't have but maybe two on it last year (IF that...I'll have to go back and look.  I do remember a lot of people upset about the lack of representation) and one on it this year and the comment about giving support to a defense that held opponents to 270 was just laughable to me since we've held opponents to half that amount.  We all have opinions, I know....

  5. What people never take into consideration is that coaches also teach!  The majority of them also coach more than one sport.  That takes them away from their families and their workload is unreal.  Granted, AD/HC's are paid administrators.  Most of them ALSO have to take care of the junior high personnel.  Yes, there may be a campus coordinator, but they answer to the AD.  AD oversees all athletic programs, attends most every game in every sport, works 12 months, and is pretty much on call 24/7.  Teachers do not make enough PERIOD, but to compare their salary to a coach, HC/AD is apples and oranges.  Until you are closely associated to the coaching profession, it is hard to comprehend.

We will need to go and perform research on which titles should be nullified due to location prior to AT&T and which ones are legitimate. In an effort to maintain said narrative we will also need to extend our logic to games prior to the State Championship and then on to baseball, basketball, and track.

There are no telling how many illegitimate champions there have been as a result of those static/pre-determined locations creating unfair advantage for teams in Austin, San Antonio as well as the Houston area. It may be that there are little to no championships that have been won based on merit alone once we account for the cumulative advantages.

It is of particular interest that many teams competing for state championships routinely have undefeated road records during the season in which they actually won games at opposing teams home field.

You can drip all the sarcasm you want but i guarantee you that if Ennis had had to sleep in a hotel 6 hours away back in 2000 instead of playing in a place where they had already played 3 or 4 games, PLUS only 30 minutes away from them, West Orange-Stark would have one more State Championship ring on their fingers!

I did not write the above statement.  How did someone "quote" something from me that I did not write?

The physicality is part of it.  But what I meant was that even though you are pulling from the same # of kids in each sport, you need fewer good players to be competitive in sports like baseball and basketball.  Look at how many small schools are successful in March Madness each year.  George Mason made the Final Four I believe one year.  George Mason is not even able to field a football team.  Lamar can periodically beat UT in baseball, but how do you think they would fare against UT or A&M in football?  So, it is a combination of the physicality of football (imposing your physical will on your opponent) and the sheer #'s that are required in order to have a competitive FB team at a certain level.  After saying all of that, I'll throw out the usual statement that none of this applies to WOS when it comes to football. :-)

Totally understand that but generally, you see the same teams year in and year out at the finals...in baseball and basketball.  The smaller schools (NCAA) don't have the luxury of being able to recruit the bigger named stars like the LSU's, the UT's, etc.  It's rare for a small school to make it to the finals.  That's the only point I was trying to make as far as the NCAA rule is concerned.  And I only brought that up because I felt that the UIL was "trying" to follow some of the NCAA standards.  I have absolutely no clue if that's true or not, but I do know that football is a huge money maker.  Every team that makes the playoffs in every division has to pay 15% off the top to the UIL for each playoff game.  I'm guessing that helps to pay for JerryWorld or whatever....who knows.  I just know that that adds up to a lot of money....and more money than baseball or basketball brings in for sure!

Just look at how Silsbee basketball is able to compete, and beat, most schools 2-3x their enrollment.  But they can't do it in football. Why?  There is your answer.

Because basketball is more important?  Not sure what you mean by that being an answer.  There are definitely exceptions in cases of a school being more successful in one sport than the other, but it doesn't take away the statement that the schools are playing with the same enrollment in the other sports that they are playing with in football.  The question was why are they separating football and not the other sports?  Maybe the physicality of football compared to the others and the beating that it takes on the body?  Maybe somebody knows the reasons why the NCAA has the division and why the UIL followed it.

Does anyone else think this will be a scheduling nightmare.  Football has this district and everyone else has another..... I just don't understand why football get two state champions in each classification and every other sport only get one.  Kinda waters down football doesn't it?

NCAA is the same way.  You have teams like McNeese that are in a different football division, yet when basketball and baseball season roll around, they have to compete with the UT's and LSU's.  I'm not saying it's right....I've always thought the colleges should have a different division for the other sports as well just like football, but I guess they haven't figured out how much more money they could make having different divisions.  The biggest puzzle is that those schools (as well as the ones in high school) STILL have the same number of kids to choose from in basketball and baseball as they do in football.  It makes no sense.
