  1. Millers size would probably give him the advantage in the 5th spot. What a great dilemma to have, choosing between these 2 guys.
  2. I know the all district selection argument has always been “it’s about recognizing the kids” which is true. Personally I think it should be recognition of the very best. A reward for hard work and performance. Selection of 20 all district players in a 7 team district waters down the award for the players who are actually deserving. Pick 5 players on 1st team and include them as the superlative players. Pick 5 on the 2nd team and you’ll actually start recognizing kids for their accomplishments again. Under no circumstance would I open the selection process to parents and slide shows and stats. You’d have lil Johnnys Little Dribbler game winning shot on the projector. JMO for what it’s worth as a fan.
  3. I gotta ask the age old question, is there anyone who doesn’t make all district?
  4. This was a great season for the Lions. They are still young for a team making it to the regional finals. Congratulations to em on an excellent season!!
  5. What time does the first game start and who’s playing in it?
  6. I think both teams will shoot it well. Turnovers are the key here so I’ll pick Kountze by 8 at home 78-70
  7. They could shoot it last year and were quick but pretty small. This year they are bigger which in turn makes them awful tough on the defensive end. They are going to be much improved.
  8. I left before it was over. I’d say the officiating was not good. I didn’t see it real one sided , just not very good. In a game where the 2 teams had each won 1 district game they probably weren’t real high on the list. Very entertaining game through 3 quarters .I think Warren finished the season at 5-5 which is a huge improvement over recent seasons.
  9. Another one not listed but one of the best coaches in our area is the gentleman up in Big Sandy. Kevin Foster is the most overlooked basketball coach in the area.
  10. Ryan Donahoe was one of the best high school players I ever saw. He was a completely different kind of player than Zjori Bosha but both of them were great, Bosha probably had the edge as a shooter but Donahoe just refused to lose. Jarvis Bernard was also a great player over there.
  11. Daniel Marsh and several of the Reescano's would be in this conversation
  12. I gotta confess I haven't seen some of the teams on the edge of the coverage area enough to rank them. My rankings were just the teams I saw last year
  13. I think OF and HF are gonna be really close. OF made a really good hire in the off season that I think may give them a little advantage.
  14. No disrespect to any of the kids mentioned but personally I’d take Bush as the best player I’ve seen come through Silsbee in the last decade. There all great players but Bush made everyone around him better
  15. I think I’d have the top of my rankings a little bit different. 1. Beaumont United 2.Silsbee 3. Memorial 4. West Brook 5. Nederland 6. Hardin Jefferson 7. Orangefield 8. HF 9. East Chambers 10. Kountze
  16. The kid from Warren probably had the talent to be named to the 2nd team but he didn't have any help and you're exactly right Warren, Kirbyville and Hardin were bad basketball teams.
  17. The Yates game in Huntsville was better than most college games. Pace was unreal, athleticism was unique for a high school game to say the least.
  18. Most folks outside of Silsbee don’t realize what an unbelievable floor general Bush was. With a PG of his abilities on this years club they’d be special. He just wouldn’t let em lose.
  19. 36 three point attempts and 20 turnovers is a recipe for disaster.
  20. The Hawks had the perfect game plan in this one. I had said in an earlier post to keep the game in the 50-60 point range and control the tempo to give themselves a shot, which they did. I think they won the battle of the boards. At the end of the day the 24 turnovers were the difference in this one and that’s a credit to Silsbee’s 3/4 court defense. Gotta tip your cap to both coaches last night. Clay did everything he could to give his group a chance and Sigler spreading the floor at the 5:00 minute mark of the 4th cemented the win. Good ballgame, great season Hawks and Good luck Tigers!!
