1. Hardin Jefferson made the Playoffs in the 2008 season. Finished 3rd in district behind WOS & Silsbee.
 2. Big Joe did not play varsity ball as a freshmen. He got pulled up his sophomore year after playing a year on the freshmen team. Joe is one of these "big, talented kids" who already has a scholarship to play D-1 ball and even he played a year on freshmen ball. The jump from freshmen to varsity ball is pretty big, let alone trying to go from 8th grade straight to varsity. These would be 14 year old kids playing against 17/18 year olds that have been 2-3 year varsity players. I just think its too soon to pull them up. Sophomore year, fine, if they are needed, but let them play a year of freshmen ball first.
 3. IMO, it would be a mistake for those 6-8 freshmen you are referring to to be pulled up to varsity.. They should stay on the 9th grade team, let them all play together and get some experience.. unless they are going to seriously contribute its probably best that they stay together their sophomore year on JV as well... Too often a player is pulled up to varsity too soon.. regardless of how outstanding of an athlete you are, there is a huge jump to be made between 8th grade ball and Varsity ball.. The best thing for the HJ football program IMO would be to let them spend at least another year together on the freshmen team, maybe another on the JV. Let them get stronger, faster, more experience, and have them stick together. then i think HJ has a good shot at going deep in the playoffs..
 4. I believe the points only change if the game goes into a shootout.. in which case the winning team receives 2 points and the losing team receives 1 point
 5.
If I'm not mistaken, the hawks may still be undefeated... what a turnaround from last year!
The streak ends after a 2-0 loss to Lumberton Friday night.. Way to jinx them bullets lol
 6.
HJ freshman had 2 goals against Liberty.
That Freshman is a phenomenal player.. Has a very promising future..
I said MANY, not ALL.. You're post was extremely relevant, and worthwhile of reading.. However some of the others are not at all relevant or serious whatsoever..
 8.
ITS A GIRL  :P Bailey Fontenot
Agreed.. Bailey is IMO by far the best girl's keeper in the area.. Guys I'd have to go with Murdock from PNG

 10.
I honestly did not know that HJ was ever that good. Who all did yall beat back then? Why was there such a drop in year round players? The same thing is happening in Silsbee, by next year there will not be a single player that actually plays or has played competatively outside high school.
The late 90s was a strange time in HJ athletics.. For a brief period, Football and soccer were dominant teams and basketball was in a slump.. The reason IMO in the drop of soccer players is due to the fact as bullets said that there is no little league soccer nearby.. Also many athletes get to high school and may be phenomenal soccer players but due to the time of the sports they elect to play basketball or baseball and soccer falls short..
 11. Everyone is misenterpreting my meaning.. My meaning is not to put anyone down.. I support all the guys out there playing the game.. Wins are good. Confidence is good. Overconfidence however is not. Theres a difference between confident and cocky.. Some of the posts i have ride are more of the latter.. It would be a good goal for silsbee to want to win district, but it seems as if some posters EXPECT it. That's the difference..
 12. Lumberton I believe did not have a single football playoff appearance until just recently, and then in the last 4-5 years has become fairly dominant in the sport.. Maybe they should have considered cutting football when the program wasn't going anywhere and focused mainly on Soccer, which always does well.. Some schools just don't always have the right athletes, coaches, support, etc. Whatever the reasoning is, sometimes things just don't always click for these teams. HJ football was very competitive with every team in the district two of the previous four years. I cannot speak for Kountze as i am not aware of the situation over there, but I would be willing to bet that the coaches and all the players are giving their all day in and day out to turn the program around and be just as successful as the basketball program. Just because a team does not do as well as others does not mean you should cut the program.. If you can afford to keep the sport going, IMO you should.. Sports are one of the best things about high school.. It's obviously the reason that everyone has signed up on or views this website.. Sports give high school students and outlet; something to focus their attention on, and is probably the reason that some of these kids stay in and do well in school, graduate, and go on to college.. To cut a program just because it isn't getting the desired number of playoff appearances is a rash and unwarranted decision.. Especially if your only intention is to reapportion the funding to the program that is already successful so that they can buy new uniforms.

Silsbee IMO is not (at this point) as good as some people are making them out to be. Do i believe they are a good team this year? Yes. The Undefeated champions of the world that it seems as if some people are trying to make them out to be? Not quite. Yes, they have made a great turnaround and have started the season off extremely well, but... 1. Who have they Played?      An undefeated 5-0 record is great, but the best teams don't care what your record is and unless that undefeated record is against quality teams it doesn't mean a whole lot when you against a quality team. Silsbee's wins were over (According to another post on here) HJ, HF, Jasper, and BC (x2). (All 3A teams)      ...2010 Season...            - One playoff team.. HF (3rd Place behind PNG and Nederland)... and 3 (3A) non-playoff teams.      List of some notable Seniors from last years teams.. HJ 1st Team All District Chris Brown - Sr 2nd Team All District Josh Self - Sr Caleb Bernsen - Sr Jasper 1st Team All District Anthony Martinez - Sr 2nd Team All District Ossama Zafar - Sr Richard O'Brien - Sr HF Defensive MVP - Travis Briggs  HF  Sr. First Team All District Kurtis Bell  HF  Sr. Colton Romero  HF  Sr. Marco Areualo  HF  Sr. Second Team All District Travis Bertrand  HF Sr. Eric Maggio  HF  Sr. Terry Affolter  HF  Sr. ... So, the one playoff team graduates 7 all district players.. Jasper and HJ graduated some quality players as well.. I Know for a fact that HJ is in a rebuilding year after losing 7 starters from last years team.. HF should be after losing that many quality players.. Not sure about Jasper or Bridge City.        2. The One time they were "beaten"...           (The 2-1 Scrimmage Lose to HJ) - AND YES I REALIZE IT WAS A SCRIMMAGE AND DOES NOT COUNT           - While i may be incorrect (but i doubt it), I find it VERY difficult to believe that (as one poster said) the Silsbee team did not play their better players (were saving them for the regular season i believe he/she said), and instead opted to play the backups.. The point of a scrimmage is to evaluate your team and see what works and what doesn't.. How can you do this with your starters on the bench? You have to put the players you intend to have on the field during the season in during the scrimmage to evaluate...        3. District Championship?           Don't you think it's too early to be talking about a district championship seeing that they have not even started district yet? Yes, Silsbee is a much better team than they were last year, but to be claiming a possible district championship this early after having finished (I believe) in 7th last season is a bit drastic if you ask me.             Again: Not trying to disrespect Silsbee, Silsbee Soccer Team, Coach, Players, etc.. (Coach and Players: Keep doing what you're doing and keep up the good work.. Win district and I'll be pulling for you in the playoffs for sure).. Just trying to make a point to some of the people posting on here.. Some of you have gone a little overboard.
Good grief, "RAMBLE ON IOUS," talk about going overboard.
My 1 post is probably very small compared to the several topics that contain the type of posts I am referring to
 14.
haha we are just having a bit of fun...I know the chance of us winning district is very small but we can still act confident cant we?
Confidence is great.. By all means support your team through and through.. All i'm saying is some of the statements being made are drastically overconfident and a few are ridiculous..
 15. Personally attacked?? At what point did i ever personally attack Silsbee, the soccer team, any players or coaches?? All i have done is question the thinking behind some of the posts on this board.. Some of the posts about Silsbee soccer would lead you to believe they should have been playing against Spain in the World Cup last summer.. All i'm saying is that Some posters are being over presumptuous in assuming that Silsbee will win district..
