  1. 10-5 WS final. A slick game ending 4-6-3 from Lane Smith, DeMarie Smith and Ty Stephens. #19 WS 7-0 in 24-2A
  2. Hunter Brown, Jr. WS (1) 2 run shot at Colmesneil
  3. There is ZERO cell reception inside the gym. Everyone runs outside at halftime to check their phones(including me). It's hilarious....
  4. WS 13, Shelbyville 0. F/4 Hunter Brown C/P, WS: 3-3, 3B, 5RBI, 3R
  5. Watch out for #00 for Deweyville. Double or triple him if y'all can, because if he gets a clean look 3 out of 4 times its going in for three. Shot the lights out on us in the second half with 28 pts.(40 of their 83 total in the game). They all can stroke the three, that's mainly where they got us. Didn't see much of an interior presence, but that may have just been their gameplan against us. Good luck to y'all, Wolfman!!!
  6. These young men have taken great strides in the few years they have had a program. I have got to see them twice a year for the last three years as they have been in West Sabine's district, and the improvement (especially this season) is by leaps and bounds. In my opinion I think House has the talent to play at the next level. I tip my cap to the Pineywoods Timberwolves on their first district title. Congratulations....
  7. That's right they are in region 4! Our districts (23 & 24) are right on the region 3 & 4 cutline. Either way ETX and SETX will be an absolute meat grinder to get out of....
  8. Region 3 will be loaded with Woden at #4, West Sabine #5, Joaquin #7, Evadale #8 and Big Sandy at #17. Region 4 will be stacked as well, with two teams in the top 5 (Weimar #1, Refugio #2) and several other squads loaded for bear. My early prediction is that the 2A state champion will come from either of these two regions.....
  9. Evadale's district would catch West Sabine's district in the bi district round right?
  10. I am a believer in teaching kids change ups rather than curveballs in Little League. It is a better pitch in my opinion that can be thrown from the same arm slot as the fastball and it puts less stress on developing arms than a curve and/or slider would. I agree with Jim Gilligan on this. That man has forgotten more about baseball than any of us on here will ever likely know.
  11. Pitch counts aren't always what they're cracked up to be. Say a kid has thrown 100 pitches through 8 innings and is on cruise control with no high stress innings and he's still repeating his mechanics. Would you take him out versus a kid who has thrown 65 pitches though 5 and has had several high stress innings full of pressure pitches? I am all for not overtaxing young arms, but the pitch counts their arm can tolerate vary with each kid. I saw a kid from Sabine Pass (I think) a couple years ago throw easily 140-50 pitches in a game vs. West Sabine and he seemed fine afterwards.
  12. Thorndale sure did drive quite the ways to get 6th or 7th place.......
  13. Agreed. People are going to gripe no matter what you do. I classify them in the "Gold Monkey, Brass Tooth Club". You know, the people who when you give them a 20 foot tall 24 karat solid gold monkey they would complain about his bicuspid or molar being brass? Those folks. Being a journalist myself I know this all too well.
