  5. Greetings Fastpitch Players, This year is the 10th anniversary of the College Softball Camp held at the Coquille Sports Complex in Covington, LA. The CSC college coach staff and our excellent staff of specialist (see special announcement below) is eager to return for two productive days of softball instruction, evaluation, and having the opportunity to get to know you more. A camp like this can be one of the many vital tools to use when building your foundation and advancing that quest for a college education and opportunity to play softball at the collegiate level, while at the same time improving your softball skills with excellent professional instruction. Unique to the CSC is that campers receive a full two days of instruction in an environment that the CSC college coach staff has designed with the aim of getting to know the campers on a personal level through verbal interaction, teaching, and skill observation. Camp Website: www.collegesoftballcamp.org Visit the camp website to watch the CSC camp video, find the CSC staff listing, camp details, FAQ page, directions, pictures, lodging & facility information, and registration information. Social Media The coaches, campers, and parents have plenty of fun sharing pictures and comments on our Twitter and Facebook pages. They are also used for camp updates and breaking news during the camp of possible schedule changes. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook by clicking the links below. Facebook: www.facebook.com/collegesoftballcamp Twitter: @2017_CSC Registration Is Open New this year, the only way to register and pay for the camp is online via the CSC website. Just click on the "Register" page link. The process is very easy to navigate, and major credit cards are accepted. The camp is open to girls between the seventh and twelfth grade. In recruiting terms, this means the Classes of 2017 through 2022. The camp is just about sold out, so don't delay in getting registered. The camper data list is only shared with the participating coaches on the CSC staff. Don't forget to include your t-shirt size for the CSC shirt. CSC College Coach Camp Staff We are thrilled with the staff of the 2017 CSC. They are listed below, and also posted on the website. You can see the impressive group that includes institutions from all five categories: NCAA Division I, II, & III, NJCAA, and NAIA. Campers will be working with and learning from a collective professional coaching pool of dedicated and diverse coaches who are excited about offering that hands-on experience. We have 37 colleges on staff, with a total of 55 college coaches, all of whom are active during the camp. The camper to college coach ratio will once again be below 9 to 1, which is excellent for a major interactive camp of this size. Our actual track record for the past six years has been an amazing 7 to 1 ratio, and we expect the final number to be likewise this year. Special Announcement - Camp Specialist We are fortunate to have three individuals who are each the country's leader in their profession. - Monica Abbott is without argument the #1 fastpitch pitcher in the world. - Dr. Sherry Werner is the worlds most sought after authority on the biomechanics of fastpitch. - Mari McGuire is respected as one of the top strength, speed, and conditioning trainer that specializes in fastpitch. Rain or Shine Short of a major road closing due to ice, you can make travel arrangements with confidence that you will have a fully productive weekend and receive a true value on your camp investment, regardless of whether predictions with the usage of multiple indoor facilities. Camp Activities The coaches have tweaked the schedule as well as a number of the camp activities, optimizing player productivity. The result will have campers busy either on the field, in the cage, on the turf, or hearing directly from the college coaches for over seventeen hours in two days. The camp will again feature the Sunday morning informative panel discussion in the gym, open to both campers and parents. The brief Fellowship of Christian Athletes service early Sunday morning is an optional event, but popular with both campers and coaches. Mari McGuire For you CSC vets, I am sure you all recall the workouts you learned from Mari last year. By popular request, she is returning for her third year, so use your time wisely in December and come in shape. A "homework" video prep is on the CSC website, it is suggested everyone get busy with that workout in advance. CSC Shirt & Cap All campers will receive a special color CSC shirt on Saturday based on her academic year. This shirt is to be worn on Sunday. Each camper will also receive a free CSC cap. New this year, parents can pre-order a CSC hat and a special CSC multi-colored shirt online when registering. Free Coaching Clinic on Sunday On January 2, the full agenda will be announced for the Sunday free coaching clinic. This is an opportunity for parent coaches to join other travel, high school, and recreation softball coaches, where we take advantage of having all that coaching experience in the facility at the same time. If you have any CSC questions, check out the "FAQ", "Camp Info" and "Other Info" pages on the website, but don't hesitate to email or call anytime. Visit the website to download the PDF files of the CSC Registration & Medical Release - both forms are required to complete registration by mailing them in. Registration for the 2-day camp is $200. The camp has sold out each of the past seven years so don't delay in sending in your registration. If payment is a struggle for you right now, contact Jim for options so you can secure your spot. We never want an interested camper to miss out on attending because full registration payment is a problem at this moment. Today's CSC announcement is the second of a two part-marketing program of the CSC. Back in August, an email was sent to 2014 campers announcing the camp dates. From that first limited announcement, the pace of CSC applications received is running 5 weeks ahead of the pace last year, when the camp sold out well in advance. This announcement is the final marketing effort, and is being sent 5 weeks earlier than in years past. The resources of this camp are directed back to the participating college coaches and Universities. No individual, high school, travel team, or organization uses this event as a fundraiser.     Campers will receive an email confirmation as soon as their application, medical release, and payment are received. Camp updates will then be sent to the campers and parents preparing them for the various activities and drills that they will be doing at the camp. New this year will be some additional articles and information to help you on your journey to find the right college. The coach staff receives the camp rosters during the registration period, and since the camp is usually sold out in November, the final camper list is provided to the staff a full month or more ahead of the camp. Campers, the many coaches like having the ability to communicate directly with you, so make sure you include your email and cell # on the application in addition to your parents. The camper data list is only shared with the participating college coaches on the CSC staff. Don't forget to include your t-shirt size for the CSC shirt that will be provided. New this year, campers will be receiving a very nice CSC backpack bag; a picture of it is on the homepage.    Camp Flyer The CSC flyer is a great way to pass word along to your high school coach, travel coach, teammate, or friend who might be interested in the camp. They can also take a look at the camp videos on the website to see what takes place at the camp.    Camp Staff We are thrilled to announce the staff of the 2015 CSC. They are listed below, and also posted on the website and flyer. You can see the impressive group that includes institutions from all five categories: NCAA Division I, II, & III, NJCAA, and NAIA. Campers’ will be working with and learning from a collective coaching pool of dedicated and diverse coaches who are excited about offering that hands-on experience. We have 39 colleges on staff, with a total of about 52 college coaches, all of who are active during the camp. The camper to college coach ratio will once again be below 9 to 1, which is excellent for a major interactive camp of this size. Our actual track record for the past four years has been an amazing 7 to 1 ratio, and we expect the final number to be likewise this year.     Rain or Shine We have multiple large indoor turf and gym facilities that provide ample room to continue on with the camp no matter what the weather or field conditions may be. Short of a major road closing due to ice, you can make travel arrangements with confidence that you will have a fully productive weekend and receive a true value on your camp investment.    Camp Activities The coaches have tweaked the schedule as well as a number of the camp activities, optimizing player productivity. The result will have campers busy either on the field, in the cage, on the turf, being tested with state of the art evaluation equipment, or hearing directly from the college coaches for over seventeen hours in two days. The camp will again feature the Sunday morning informative panel discussion in the gym, open to both campers and parents. The brief Fellowship of Christian Athletes service early Sunday morning is an optional event, but very popular with both campers and coaches.    New - Dr. Sherry Werner Pitching Clinic on Friday (SOLD OUT) Dr. Sherry returns to head up the pitching stations on Saturday and Sunday, which includes RevFire and Jugs measurements. Every year, she is besieged with request to provide additional work with pitchers, so this year, she will be offering a Total Package Pitching Clinic on Friday, January 2. This all day indoor clinic will be held from 9:00am - 6:00pm, and requires a separate registration and payment. There is a special "Dr. Werner" CSC website page setup with additional details about what is being offered, how to register, cost, 2-page pitching clinic flyer, and the staff that will be working the event. Due to the extensive instruction, biomechanical evaluation of pitching motion with high-speed video, and medical evaluations, the number of clinic participants is limited.    If you have any CSC questions, check out the "FAQ", "Camp Info" and "Other Info" pages on the website, but don't hesitate to email or call anytime. On behalf of the entire 2015 CSC coach staff, we hope to see you in January.    Thanks, Jim Hewitt C 985-778-3153  [email protected]     CSC Website:  CSC Facebook:   CSC Twitter:   College Softball Camp, LLC 14212 S. 14. The Sixth Annual College Softball Camp will be held January 5-6, 2013 at the Coquille Sports Complex, just off I-12 exit #57 in Covington, LA. Covington is located north of New Orleans, in-between Slidell and Hammond, LA. In addition to the six fields, four indoor facilities are used to insure operation in bad weather: an 8 tunnel hitting facility, two indoor 60 yard football fields with turf, and two gyms. This is an opportunity for high school players to participate in workouts over two days with over 40 college coaches from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee, & Florida. New this year at the direction of the coaches, 8th graders are now officially welcome to enroll and will have their own group. All campers will rotate through various skills stations being instructed by the camp staff, as well as participate in controlled game type activities. Also new this year, college coaches on staff will have access to video clips of campers performing various softball skills, and speed and agility testing. We will also have a certified trainer on staff for the duration of the camp. Pitchers will work with Sherry Werner PhD, nationally noted biomechanics expert, author and researcher for windmill pitching, and also work with numerous of the college coaches that specialize in pitching. Campers will be introduced, instructed, and exposed to the college coach camp staff for 17 hours over the two days. The camper to current college coach ratio last year was 7-1. A special FCA devotional led by college coaches will be held early Sunday morning for any campers and parents that would like to attend. Please note that this is not a traditional exposure event that puts a focus on playing games. The coaches want the vast majority of their interaction to be with the girls in smaller groups. The camp schedule that will be posted later in December will reflect that focus, where players will be involved in camp activity non-stop. Sunday morning will once again feature the popular gym session where the campers and parents will hear from a number of the college coaches and college players about the college selection process and college itself. Registration for the two-day camp is $190 and is coming to a close. Don’t delay as the camp has sold out in its previous five years. Last year, 280 young ladies from 12 states attended the camp. You can find detailed information on the camp, lodging, directions, contact info, and camp video online. Registration forms and a camp flyer can also be printed from the camp website collegesoftballcamp :  www.collegesoftballcamp.com

The free coaching clinic will return on Sunday, open to all high school, travel, and recreation coaches. Watch for the detailed coach clinic lineup and schedule to be published December 30. This camp is not a fund raising opportunity for any high school, travel team, recreation department, company, nor staged for any personal profit.
