Fellas, you haven't HF 7th graders play.Hmm? And I haven't seen WO-S players 7th grade. Hmm! I hope you realize we have a 6'6" player and a good supporting cast:D
Have not seen HF this season yet. Was just making the observation thatbased on what I saw at WOS, the HF-WOS game should be highly competitive this season. Also, the 8th grade guard at HF is very good, and very strong physically.

My son plays baseball with a big kid from HF, but he is not 6'6. If they have someone bigger than the kid I'm talkng about then watch out. I hear HF also has a guard that is very, very good. They should be the team to beat from what I am hearing. Stereo Types hurt feelings! The big Kids name is MOOSE!!!!!!

HF 7TH grade will be too much for WO-S. This game won't be close at all. The 7th grade team is too strong and they work well together. The 8th grade game will be good and maybe a little closer. I think it will be a good game, but I will still go with HF 8th grade as well.

WOS' 7th grade team is more than just athletes. they do have 2of 3 players with some size and some basketball IQ for 7th graders.
True -- They have one kid with height and lots of hops. Plus he has a good understanding of the game. I think he was #24. -- Last night Silsbee could not stop their break off missed shots, but that will come around. They have only had one practice. There was actually 2 kids, #24 and #14 who controlled the boards. We only got one shot per possession because of them while on the other end they got 2 or 3 shots per trip. That will lose games for you in a hurry. Also, you are right about the kids getting better with practice, however they did get in two practices as well as WOS only getting in the same amount. HF 8th and 7th gr did very well. Most impressed with 7th. The guards + Big Man looked real promising. Our big guy finished very strong....stronger and more consistent with finishing and rebounding...rebounding is the key to success. No doubt woulda won LIL dribblers National if Kam would not have been injured.

HF Jr. High to High School Basketball:
I personally would love to see some physical support from HF high school coaches at the Jr. High level. By 7th and 8th grade the HS coach should know the players. A relationship with the younger players should be established to make transition smooth. A successful program starts early.....look at coach English, thus the reason open Gym in the summer is so important. C. Boutte of Ozen was so successful because in the summer he was in the gym..learning who the players were...even knew who the mama's and grandma's were. It makes perfect sense. So, hopefully HF will come to embrace basketball for boys as they embrace football and baseball and support their young players. At the FB games there are at least 6 coaches on the sidelines offering their support and advice. Let's see that same support for basketball. What's the use in coaching a program if you don't want or expect to be the best.

This kid is simply amazing. You know a kid is good when he elevates all the kids around him to a level they have never experienced before. If you ever make a special trip to see a junior high kid play, this is the kid to come see. I don't see any team being quicker or faster than us. I also don't see a team getting four or five chances against us on missed shots. I will say this - with Kam clogging the middle and controlling the boards and the rest of our team pressing and fast breaking, it will take a team's best night coupled with an off night by us in order for this team to lose.

Well You are so kind for those words. You must have a very secure ego to be able to give kind words to someone elses kid. Not everyone has the ability to do this. Youth sports can be a booger with spite. But, I really did mean wholeheartedly about my mention of Kam. It's hard to win without a strong big man. All players together will be awesome.

Henderson Middle School(HJ) 7th grade A: 47-11 over Orangefield. Proper officiating would not have changed the outcome, but those two swallowed their whistles. I have a son on the Henderson team and think there were numerous calls missed on both ends and I hope those referees are able to cash their game checks with a clear conscience.
