Kelly...........................5 3 8
Lake Charles Barbe........0 0 0

Kelly goals: Claire Dykeman(3)Caitlin Quinn(2)Lauren Zeto, Zuri Prince, Mary Ellen Zummo
Kelly assists: Dykeman(3)Yasmine Afshar, Anna Katherine Wied, Jenny Hernandez

A beautiful weather night at the nicest high school soccer complex in which we play. Barbe has a great high school facility with a field in excellent shape. Technically, this was a scrimmage under La. rules but played under game conditions with referees and score kept and the maximum time played under La. regulations. It was a pretty lopsided event as the score reflects. On one hand you could consider Kelly young with no seniors on the team, on the other, they return nine starters, five of whom are now three year starters. Reality check next week with Lake Charles St. Louis and St Agnes on the schedule. Both schools usually have outstanding teams and I don't believe Kelly has ever beaten Agnes.

Has Dykeman received any offers!? Because she does nothing but tear up every team she plays...

Dykeman plays the forward position which receives the most stat notoriety but understates the other equally valuable parts of a team. She has a lot of talented teammates. Ideally, there would be other recognizable statistics to account for the great defensive plays by defenders such as Madeline Horning and Teilor Long and midfield decisions by Yasmine Afshar and Zuri Prince. These contributions and those of others all result in placing the ball to a forward in scoring position and just as importantly, preventing the other team from scoring.

Agreed, many players do not always recieve the regocnition they deserve due to the fact that they may not be in a position to score goals.. Every player on the field has a job to due, and it takes every player doing that job for the team to win.. Usually the forwards and goalkeepers recieve alot of the credit because their stats show up (goals, assists, saves, shutouts).. but without the help of the midfield forwards usually wont score very much.. and without the help of a solid defense a goalkeeper can't make as many saves and shutouts..

So true.  If y'all watched the A&M and OSU game yesterday, you could tell A&M is loaded with talent but OSU's goalie won the game for them.
