Carthage - and I probably won't get my guys for a long time again this year.
JackFan, how will the soph player this year? He was very impressive last year as a freshman.

At Caldwell, this year they have 4 kids (2 Seniors/2 Sophomores) who don't play football.  1 of those kids is their only All-District player, Andrew Smisek.  The other 6 kids play football...Varsity football...& it looks like they will be playing football for a long time this year.  Too bad for Coach Smisek.  I know he really wants to get going!

He certainly hasn't lost any athleticism, but his skills haven't improved much either - and this is still a game of skill.

This must refer to 3A and below bc once you get into 4A and 5A its very rare to go multiple sports.

For example I think Barbers Hill has 2 kids that play football and B-ball. One of them is the sixth/seventh man and the other,
unfortunately, rides the pine.

Gotta agree with that one.  Even the 4A's rarely have multiple sport athletes.  It's happens, but not much anymore!

%100...no football no basketball or at least that's how it was when I was in athletics

Are you saying that at East Chambers, if you want to play basketball or any other varsity sport, you HAVE to play football? Am I understanding you correctly?
When my son was a sophmore we received a letter in the mail stating that to play other sports you had to play football...the fb numbers were down and they were trying to bring it up......neadless to say it took about an hour to iron that little wrinlkle out....I support  the fb program but that tatic didn't work....things are a lot better the last few years.
The "tactic" would also be illegal by the UIL. You cannot make playing a sport mandated or based on playing another sport. It is ILLEGAL to make it mandatory that playing a sport you have to play football. Now you can say the only ones in athletics are football kids, with everything else after school but not the other way.

when i was in High school if you didn't play football they didn't put you in athletics you were in P.E, because it was the same time as the athletic period, then once football season was over and basketball started they put you in athletics and the coaches said the reason why is because every coach, coached football and therefore they didn't have anyone free to watch the kids that didn't play football, but that being said when i was in high school our basketball team won 2 district titles and made a trip to the regional finals

We don't really have many guys who crossover between football and basketball at Madison. I believe we have two players who will be reserves on the basketball team currently playing football. One is our starting QB who goes 6'7" and the other is a 6'3" WR who starts as well. Other than that we don't have anyone else on the football field right now.

the rule now at ec is that every person in athletics have to play 2 sports which nearly 95% of those ppl play football as the 1st sport
